I did some decal work on my CAT powered GE yesterday. No cab numbers yet but it’s one step closer.

Good start to WPF Jeffery, nice patch jobs there. This week i have some progress pics on the new layout, got the 2 main lines installed and have the track layed out for the upper level,
And thanks to the resealing they did on the road/driveway the layout now has that authentic creasote/tar smell to it!

I don’t think I posted the newest update last week… I know I posted about the project, but I don’t think I had track laid yet.
This is the town of West Canaan, New Hampshire. I removed the backdrop to allow the mainline to access the future lift bridge to the staging yard easier. The track had to be totally redone as well.

The full-size train is on the staging yard track, while the centerbeam flatcar and pulpwood gondola are on the Delery Pulpwood & Lumber Co. spur. That lone gondola to the left is at a small scrap transload center. The curving track in the foreground is the continuous run connection, since the staging yard is stub ended.

I have some new out buildings for the guests at Miller’s Bed and Breakfast at Hopewell Junction. You can also see the afternoon milk train passing behind the place on a hot August afternoon on the S.L.O.&W…
Don’t pay no never mind to that guy using the “facility”, that’s just James the Handyman. He’s a farm boy and doesn’t see any reason to shut the door… He figures if he needs his sinuses cleared out, he can go muck out the pen stabling on the farm. Frankly if it weren’t for the crowd enjoyin’ the concert in the park across the street, he’d most likely be waterin’ the tree. He’s been talked to about his “habits” by the good Rev. Miller on several occasions, but he ain’t about to change!
This is a great start to WPF! My compliments to everyone who has posted so far…very nice work! I love Chuck’s whimsical approach to his layout building experience.

A 2-6-0 hauls a short passenger train past Yosemite Forks on the Oakhurst Railroad.
New for this week … For the 2-6-0, a little weathering and neo lube on the drivers … and the Southern Pacific Lines Harriman passenger cars are a recent purchase from E-Bay.

I weathered some cars over the week:
This gon I experimented a little bit. I drybrushed it grimy black then hit it with pastes and dullcote.
I did the same with the trucks and wheelsets on it. Personally I think they came out great.
Here’s the trio of boxcars I weathered. Just pastels. I spent a while trying to figure out how to make the dullcote seal really good but I nailed it on all 3 cars. When I moved the UP box inside from the other carport it started raining and some got on the roof and left some shiny spots. I figure I’d leave it since it looks like parts of the roof got patched over.
Here’s a tanker car I did, I have another one that I’m working on at the moment.
Here’s some flats I got recently. A few of them are missing bridge plates, container shoes, and hitches; so I’ll probably get some from Athearn. I’ll also need to get trailers to go on them.
I set these engines up as a consit and have them sitting on a display shelf. I’ll have to weather them someday, but I haven’t done an engine with pa

I don’t post in here much but I thought I’d try it this weekend.
Union Pacific C44-9W 9737 was relettered CNW 2250 after the merger. As tt was already painted in UP colors the UP heraldry was removed and CNW lettering was put in their place. It is waiting to lead a Westbound manifest train (227) out of Green Valley Siding. Additional power for the train is CNW 5142 (B40-8) and CNW 8826 (AC4400CW).

In the past week I restored an repainted two old Hobbytown die cast metal Alco PA1’s that I painted them to match another Hobbytown PA1 that I had restored and painted a couple of years ago. First picture shows all three. Second shows all of them again in action. Third photo shows one meeting a train with a Burlington E5 to show the contrart in nose angles.

Even though I model the modern era (I’m actually considering modeling the always changing “modern era” much like what Eric Brooman (sp?) has done with his Utah Belt, which I’ve always admired. We’ll see when Atlas comes out with their new Genset locomotive…) I’ve been enjoying all the older-era photos this week. Great photos from Grampy (love the lens flare from the headlights, and the perspective looks almost like the cameraman was leaning out the conductor’s window on another train), Selector (the black & white really adds a lot to the photo!), and Lee (as usual, great scenery, and those little steamers are really neat!).

I have said this before, Your photography is outstanding. I would really, really like to know the details: digital, lens, manual/auto, raw/jpg/gif, lighting and anything else you would like to share. I have a Sony A100 that I really like. I have some good macro and closeup flower pictures. My shots of my layout, not so good. Take a look if you would like.
I would like to add your modeling skills are also outstanding from the couple of pictures I have seen.
Great stuff guys! OK. It’s pouring rain, I’m off today and there’s no way the field…i mean grass is going to get mowed today. Perfect formula for working in the train room all day! This is my first set of pics for WPF. Finished my 1st hydrocal structure kit. Thanks to all here who gave some great advice! Also did a little terrain and street work.
