Peter, thanks for starting another WPF! What a great model scene!

I’ve got a passenger train entering a mountain tunnel while a BNSF freight emerges:

This Weeks Completed Cars:

Another Athearn 34’ Offset Side Hopper Car, painted with Model Masters Black Paint and lettered with K4 decals. Adding to my coal train for the NKP.

Branchline 50’ AAR Double Door Boxcar kit, with A-Line sill steps added, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red #2 and lettered with K4 Decals. Car was in general service on the B&O.

Last week I took my PFM B&O E27ca Consolidation to the Strongsville Model RR Club to run a short train.

Thanks for setting up the last of February WPF, Peter!

Excellent contributions as always!

This colorful milk refrigerator car caught my eye and I fell for it! I’m a pushover for milk cars…

While cleaning up the photo I got a better look at this lettering!

Good morning

Thanks for providing yet another WPF Peter. Followed and enjoyed weekly over here.
As always, some great looking stuff here gents!

A while back, hindsight bit me in the caboose, and it was realized bridge #3 & 4 would have to be raised 1/8 inch, after my new found love of double stackers

#3 had 5 feet of an approach, so increased increments of one thickness of construction paper evey 6 inches couldn’t have increased the 2% grade much more than a decimal.

Bridge #4 was easy. Add 1/8 to the columns, and slide em back in the tubes.

Bridge #3 on the other hand…

…originally had plates on the bents for bridge shoes. The bent legs were only seated in the substrate less than 1/8 an inch.
Raising the whole bridge 1/8 was not an option. The only solution was the plates would have to be changed to thicker shoes

I’m liking these bridge shoes, …Kidding!

These will do.

Hope I’m not boring you all with all this mumbo jumbo. I’ll speed things up a bit.

Just need to remove the bent boots, scrape the plate shoes and put these little tid bits in between.

Thanks for looking :slightly_smiling_face:

As I mentioned earlier this week in the diner, I attended my first ops session. It was super chill, the guys at the club were very friendly, and I was encouraged to bring my own motive power. Got a chance to run my Mike before the session started.

These larger layouts with nice bridges make me really eager to expand my layout eventually. Hard to beat a locomotive going over a large bridge!

My favorite pic of bridge #4 right after it was constructed.

PS Sure do like that truss bridge you built John, and the setting you made as well :+1:

Thanks, TF Love your bridges, too. I hope we can do something to get more participation on the WPF.

Thanks John. Yes, that would be a good thing. Although sometimes there are some peak weeks here. Maybe at times modelers get busy on the weekend.

Ya know,… a suggestion was made when Firecrown took the reigns, looking for ideas to add to MR magazine. Pubishing a few photos a month from WPF, like Trackside Photos would be cool. That might generate some enthusiasm. Guess they must not have liked that idea.
Who knows if the community members here would like that or not either?

John, Nice coming and going shot.

Rick, Sure like those old Athearn offsets, gave a few away, but still have a couple favs’ in service. Double door boxcars always look longer. Club shot is neatly composed, train in the middle with the cut stone retaining wall below and forest products scene above.

Ed, Cool reefer’, Bordens with Elsie and Elmer, provider of dairy and a staple of we Model Railroaders, white glue.

Good to see your work again TF, I recall ‘A bridge too far’, now I know about a bridge too low. Bridge shoes are a nice touch and a prototype feature often omitted.

NimbusRI, Looks like you had plenty of fun at the club and some dandy shots too.

Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good week ahead as we march into March. Regards, Peter
