Lots-o Weekend Photo fun is always my dream
even with Super Bowl Sunday up on the screen
and players doing battle across a field of green
Model Railroading pics need to be seen
Peter
Thank you Peter for starting out the weekend with more of your great modeling!
Here are this weeks pictures!
First a Tangent 40’ PS1 Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red paint and lettered with Herald King decals.
Next an Intermountain Railway ACF 4650CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray paint and lettered with K4 decals. This lot of covered hoppers were the only large covered hoppers to come with round roof hatches.
Last week I took my Rapido NKP RS-11’s to the Strongsville Model Railroad club layout for a little train running, also took a picture of the end of the train with one of the NKP’s classic High Speed Service cabooses!
Have a good weekend!

Imagine! Nickel Plate locomotives in mountainous areas!
(They’d look good anywhere.)
Thanks for starting another EPF, Peter, and as it is every week, your layout scene is amazing.
I’ve nearly finished three N cardstock buildings. These need some paint touchups and landscaping, which I’m going to do after I finish the fourth house. For me, cardstock houses are not easy, but they are cheap!
Love the cab photo
Thanks for the Chilly February send-off of WPF, Peter! Nice to see the great photos here…
Quite by surprize I found that Tangent was ‘finally’ offering the ERIE bay window cabooses in several paint arrangements. I could certainly use a couple more cabooses on my roster!

I do remember these ‘fancy’ painted ones passing through my neck of Ohio many times:

Hey! Haven’t these guys ever heard of ‘weathering’!

Thank you for this weeks WPF, Peter.
Not much from me again, I’ve been doing a bit of Joinery and Cork cutting.
In this corner, I intend to locate my Walthers #933-4095 ‘Modern Suburban station’.
The two Platforms are Pads from a Walthers #933-2908 ‘Diesel Fueling Facility’ (old type) with an Athearn Blue-box RDC, to help gauge things.
I’m intending to spray-glue ‘Scale Model Scenery’ TX158, ‘Weathered Asphalt’ to the 1/8" Cork, spray it with Matt Varnish and then secure the Cork to the Baseboard with Scotch Carpet tape.
At least that’s the plan - as usual I haven’t worked it out properly, because I’m not too sure in the first instance, but I want to get this corner done, in order to finish some infill joinery.
I’ve been looking for some ‘Down-town’ Backscenes for this corner, no chance of any in the UK.
I’ve also been checking-out using these Permanent-markers for painting the sides of Rails. They are Pump-action and have Bullet Nibs, 0.9-1.3mm.
By pumping the ink, I can flood the Tie-plates and Spikes and even after flexing the Track to its final position and pinning it, any shiny specks of Rail can be treated again, once the first dose has dried.
Hopefully, this will save using an Airbrush and masking-off all over.
The main thing is the process is like drawing, just gentle sweeps of the Pen, no riving a Rail-Rust Marker back and forth, damaging the Ballast or worse, the Tie-spikes.
Hopefully, better progress for next week.
Paul.
Rick, Liking your CNW Box & NYC Hopper. Those RS-11s look sharp, and the train coming out of the tunnel and across the steel trestle reminds me the of Muir Trestle aka Alhambra Valley Trestle.
John, Good to see your neighborhood coming along.
Lussari, What an exquisitely detailed scene, love the camera angle and choice of colors too. Just brimming with little niceties, like the cottage terraced into the hillside, tire/repair shop and garden.
Ed, Like those cabooses, Tangent has done another fine job. Your Baldwin and scenery are also grand.
tompmrr, Like your Penn. Westinghouse Boxcab, so too the REA reefer. 44 years ago built my first HO kit, an Athearn REA reefer that I still own.
Paul, Any progress is good progress and painting rails gives a lot of realism bang for the buck.
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good week ahead. Regards, Peter
Thank you for the compliment.
I like to detail the scenery.
A landscape that evokes the modeled region, without being an exact replica.
I use these pens to paint the side of my rails too. A very easy and relatively quick process!
