It’s post time! Let’s get Weekend Photo fun outta’ the gate and down the straight.

“ On any Sunday,” the smell of 2-stroke exhaust and creosote hanging in the air.

I got a couple of cars done this week.

Another Athearn 55 ton coal hopper with the added Pikestuff Panels to replicate the Wabash cars. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with Tichy Decals.

I also finished a Branchline 50’ Berwick Boxcar, car was painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Floquil Platinum Mist paints then lettered with Highball Graphics decals for “Spartan” cars. These were all cars the D&H acquired from many of the IPD railroads that ended up with too many cars and had to dispose of them.

Last Saturday I took my new Bowser C-415s to the Strongsville Model Railroad Club and ran them with a transfer run on the layoout.

Thanks for starting another WPF, Peter!

I don’t have many good photos to share. Here is a quick one of a Christmas present from a son-in-law. He knew how much I like covered hopper cars. I stuck it on a train and ran it for the family:

Hope to see a lot of photos this week!

Always found it interesting how much diesel variety the Rock Island had, considering how their steam fleet was, although great, not very diverse.

Continuing work on the KBSR Shops and HQ. I’m currently installing the “concrete” floors in the shops.

Here’s some more Rock Island action with my new Rapido E8 in front of the depot I got for Christmas. Really looking forward to running this at a club.

Malcom Smith made motocross look effortless. Watch the movie every time I can find it. I’m old enough to have ridden trail bikes during the time this was filmed.

Welcome aboard jewilson! :blush::locomotive:

Nice work on the hopper! I started one back in 1994 and never went further that the side panels!!!

Seeing yours, I might have to finish mine!!!

John, I’ve zoomed in as much as I can on your photo. It’s probably obvious to everyone else, but I’m wondering what is in the fenced area on the far right side of the photo. I hope you can continue to post photos in the next weeks.

Sorry it’s a bad photo job! I’m modeling a
fertilizer plant in that space. It’s LOOSELY based on the south edge of Donovan, IL. Here are a couple closer pics.

Thanks! That’ll be a nice section of the layout.

Rick, Nice hopper and boxcar, but really like that pair of C-415s, had to be lots of fun stretching their legs at the club.

John, Good son-in-law and an extra fine gift for a covered hopper fan.

pjswan, Looks like fun setting up your shops and those crops are growing good.

NimbusRI, That’s a sharp looking E8, the double headlights are cool, Santa was good to you.

jewilson, Malcom was indeed a great talent, most impressive to me was his participation in the ISDT, where riders not only had to stay on time, but do all the maintenance and repairs on their bikes without help.

Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good week ahead. Regards, Peter
