I am going to begin WPF this week with a couple of pictures of boxcar projects I built just to test lettering scheme ideas for upcoming projects. I like to test new schemes with “throw-away” train cars first.

Sure do like your decaling! I haven’t been into fright cars in a long time and yours are very impressive.
Garry I wasn’t into heavy weight cars until recently, I saw a YouTube video with a SP Cab Forward towing a heavy weight passenger (SP Lark) between Bakersfield and LA and that got me going. Your HW cars look very good!
Mike, that is going to be one very nice roundhouse. Do keep the pictures coming.
I haven’t got any new pictures to post this week, haven’t done much but things are looking up. The slow boat from China arrived with a bunch of goodies yesterday so I can get back to work on my control panel. I did get almost everything back working and was able to actually run some trains, first time since January.

I recently stripped paint off a Kadee PS-1 using “SuperClean” and I’m really impressed with how well that stuff works for paint stripping.
Great scene, Garry. I like football specials, too. I was always interested in the specials that the PRR ran to the Army-Navy game near Philly. Sometimes over twenty trains were operated!
Excellent work on the roundhouse, Mike [Y] — a very neat job on the wiring and the “traditional” green enamel lamp shades look perfect!
Hi, Mel. One of the reasons you see the cars below that I’m working on is that these are “modernized” heavyweights. I wish more manufacturers would produce some of these “betterment” cars. Many railroads, and Pullman, too, would rebuild cars with air conditioning and newer windows.
First — some “old news”, the DL&W tower has a tile roof and the beginnings of the concrete color. I wasn’t sure of that color as the instructions only say to paint it green. Most of the tile roofs I’ve seen are terra cotta color.
Kevin, Thanks for the WPF start-up. Considering the nice effort you’ve put into the boxcars I can’t think of them as El Cheapos, I like the lettering on the double-door.
Garry, Good bucolic scene, really like how the backdrop blends in so nicely.

And just for fun I painted up and old Rail Line D&RGW 3000-series boxcar I built in high school (it needed a better paint job anyway) after Malcolm Furlow’s San Juan Central RR boxcar #46. This car appears in several photos in his series and book. Mine’s a little less beat up, but even in Malcolm’s world the 46 was one of the more “pristine” of the SJC’s rolling stock. It might have been SJC’s only car without a significant swayback.
A little late to the party, Photobucket was having one of their hiccups on Friday.

My Bowser C-430’s with a Flexivan Train on the Strongsville Model Railroad Club Layout, we had an open house last weekend in coordination with the Srongsville Historical Society’s Harvest Festival. Best attendance by the public ever.
It has been kind of a quiet weekend in WPF so far. It is still the weekend, please keep the updates, pictures, and posts coming.

Garry: We don’t have football specials down here, but once a year the SEMINOLE GULF runs a “Rodeo Special” to Arcadia. I like your train. It sure fits in that scene nicely.
Mike: Thank you for the roundhouse update. It sure is a fine model.
Ed: Those green tiles sure do look unusual to me as well. In the prototype picture they actually look quite shiny.
Peter: The filling station is simply amazing. I love your work.
Ulrich: That is quite a pleasing scene on your layout.
Dave: Those pictures of the narrow gauge operations are beautiful.
Rick: Two solid black GE locomotives together like that just look so powerful.
Harrison: I like the underpass project. I also use all kinds of excuses just to add small bridges.

Running a bit late this week, but that is railroading.
I finished a Branchline HW single window coach, BM 4623. It is one of those orphan kits I mention from time to time; donated to Boothbay Railway Village partially completed. In this case almost all of the work was done, except for interior details and the trucks were missing. I called Atlas customer service about buying replacement trucks, and they sent a set at no cost. They did not have to, the kit was made long before they bought Branchline. Great customer service!!
I painted the interior, added figures, lighting, power pickup, and a TCS Keep Alive
George: That branchline kit is a masterpiece. I wish so badly they would have just had a diner and observation to go with the series. Nice work.

Now that I actually have two work tables it is crazy how much I am getting to work on. I have my “assembly” desk in the “dorm room” in Tampa. Then I have my painting & finishing desk at home.
