Thanks for starting the new weekend’s posts with your police car photo. I couldn’t tell for sure, but it looks like the Firebird is an out-of-state Virginia car, a perfect target for a speed trap.

My photo is the layout’s town thus far. It’s slow-going, with several more buildings planned but not started – something to do this winter.

Here is what I managed to finish this week!

Athearn 40’ Trailer, where I removed most of the FGE details from the trailer to make it more generic, painted with Floquil Platinum Mist paint and lettered with Highball Graphics decals. This is another generic trailer I wanted to add to the mix to break up all the railroad owned trailers I have.

Next, a Branchline 50’ Boxcar kit, added Moloco End of Car Cushioning draft gear and A line Sill Steps along with lowering the ladders and brake wheel to conform to new standards. Car was painted with Scalecoat II IC Orange and Floquil Platinum Mist paints then lettered with Dan Kohlbergs IC Decals. Car was in general service on the ICG.

After I finished my PC SD40, I took it and a SD45 (this was a common lashup on the PC and Conrail) to the Strongsville Club along with a 25 car train of various covered hoppers mostly PS4785’s.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work everyone. Yes, the season is changing here in the North and I’m looking forward to those cold nights where more of my time can be spent on model railroading . This week, a shot of an ongoing project:

A Bowser Challenger kit - and what a challenge that project has been. Thank god I have a good box of spare parts. Many of the original parts were quite brittle and broke in my hands. Getting the mechanism to roll freely was not easy. Isolating the motor from the frame (for DCC) and getting the power train to run properly was also an adventure. I also changed the motor magnets, but that was probably the easiest part.

Anyway, I think I can finally see the light at end of the tunnel of this one, so to speak.

Have a great weekend.

I can tell for sure; it’s a Georgia plate.

And it reads BAN ONE.

I really can’t see this. Peter may have to help us out.

He’s modeling Smokey and the Bandit. Perhaps the Bandit has installed those license plates like James Bond had on the DB5 that change to confuse pursuers… see how loose it’s hanging off?

I would like to share some photos of my European/German layout of a small branch line.

I’ve been having a bit WPF and a bit of peace and quiet away from home for a few hours, on the excuse of visiting the Aln Valley Railway today, for a Model Railway Exhibition.

I got a few photos of a N-gauge layout, where the trains were running at ‘scale’ speeds, which was nice to observe.

Also, an enthusiastic young modeler, who was proudly displaying some of his Dad’s “Hornby Dublo”, which was good see.

3-Rail track with shiney painted Sleepers (Ties) and Ballast with Art Deco style buildings.

Outside, the AVR were running Steam-hauled Passenger services to the current terminus at Cawledge Viaduct.

I also picked-up some secondhand railway books and an old battered and bruised ‘Tri-ang Railways’ 00 scale (1:76.2) model structure, an example of which I had as a kid in the 1960’s.
I’m determined to make a space for it somewhere my layout - after a bit of TLC.

David, Like your idyllic shots, archives or not.

John, The town is coming along nicely, planning is fun and being at the hobby bench during winter lifts the spirits. Good eye, the NEO Firebird has a Virginia license plate. As Woke_Hoagland mentioned a nice addition would be a Georgia plate reading BAN ONE. Darn, missed out on getting one of Brekina’s Aston Martins in Silver.

Good looking models Rick, both static and dynamic.

Wow Simon, quite a project, but appears to be a labor of love.

AndiNYSW, beautiful modeling and really like the detail.

Paul, Peace, quiet, Model Railroading and a camera sounds like a little piece of Shangri-La.

Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good week ahead. Regards, Peter
