Gidday All, I briefly alluded to it in the last WPF that I had gone to a train show; her-in-doors and I took our daughter back to university. While we were over there also visited our son and his girl friend, also uni students, and as the women folk decided to have a girls afternoon, my son and I were told to go to the local train show, we didn’t need to be told twice!
The NZR 9mm chaps were there in force, might have been just the time I was there but not a very chatty bunch, but anyhow the scale is 9mm to the foot, (not quite 3/8” to the foot for you non metric folks) running on 32mm (1 ¼”) track. It allows for lots of detail which is very nice, but the price is somewhat eye watering!!
A 9mm NZR “Fiat Rail Car”, (and yes that is a Ja Class 4-8-2 to the left)…
…and here’s a link for those who may be interested.
I altered and shortened this to save time
I left out the Geeps highlighted in Brown
And just did The Geo Washington and the T-1 To keep the length at 15 min
Following the script it can take 2 hours to do 1 session
These 3 videos are about 15 min each for a total of 45 so it’s close to the time line
Here’s the script This video is the third in the series and ends at 8:58 in red text
The picture was taken on my Cascade Branch, an imaginary line off of the Silverton Branch that serves extractive industries such as logging, mining, oil, and stone. Engine 454 is a Blackstone K-27 from the first run, still going strong and headed RR east. Behind it is a Blackstone boxcar, but most of the train consists of a mix of Blackstone and PSC kit-built tank cars. The branch ends at Snowden, where the newest Gramps oil field has a terminal to load crude oil for movement to the Oriental refinery in Durango.
This pic shows the loading rack at Snowden, along with a pipe train spotted on the team track for unloading.
For lots more on the Cascade Branch, please see my thread here:
Bear, Thanks for the WPF opening. Glad to hear and see you followed orders. Can’t think of visiting a model train exhibit, public, private, big or small that didn’t instill in me a deep sense of appreciation and inspiration.
Thanks to all, Happy Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, Peter
Of course not!!!
Thank you for your contribution.[tup]
One question if you don’t mind, with the pool table in the garage, where’s the layout?[swg]
It’s probably a timely reminder to all the viewers of WPF, who are forum members, that while there are some very regular contributors, this is not a closed shop, there is no secret handshake, and apart from the general Forum rules, there are no rulez! http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/243474.aspx
The only criteria are that the photo relates to some aspect of model railroading, (that allows for prototype rail fanning shots) and most importantly, that the contributor had
No major work this week, so I’ll just post some railfanning photos I did
I’m going to have this scene on my eventual Wheeling and Lake Erie “East End” layout. I already have a custom done model of 7370 above, and I’m planning to do one of the High hood units next.
Hopefully I’ll have some model photos next week. Keep posting the excellent model photos.
No Halloween stuff here on the SLOW… Heck it is still Aug. 15, 1925 down there. I have been doing more on the Grirder Bridge project. I have spent about 4 hours over the last two days adding rivets!!! Used a lot of those words (that mommy said she would wash my mouth out with soap for using), made a lot of incorrect cuts (mostly too large so it was easily made right), tried to keep my hand from shaking as I moved the decals into place, and only got about 3/4 of the one grider riveted…
I have a long way to go with this project. The whole thing you see is only the first half…
I hope this doesn’t mean you’re turning into a rivet counter Ray!! [:P]
While not to be encouraged, it can be useful as a safety valve, I’m pleased to see I’m not the only one who occasionally uses language that mum would not approve of.[:$]
I added a decoder to a United Brass Shay, made up some caboose lighting, and installed a WOW decoder into an Athearn 2-8-0 steamer. An oil bunker will cover that capacitor on the tender.
