Well - I'm in the hobby now!

Thanks to that great thread on the Halloween Village, and some hints about a train with some scenery added from Hallmark and/or Michaels, I talked my wife into letting me order the Transylvania RR General Loco + Caboose. I think her watching the movie that was posted with the thread put it over the top.

The Spooky Boxcar isn’t out yet. I did find an older bobbing head ghost boxcar, so I added that too! I paid for the train, she’s getting the rest of the stuff out of her “allowance”!

Currently, my set consists of the hobo handcar, a 40x60 fasttrack, a CW80 transformer, the Hobo Depot, the Hobo campfire, and the Hobo Water Tower - sort of a theme. I got much of it from a set break up on ebay.

Now, once I get this set, I need to start working on the Disney Christmas train…

I guess I’m addicted already!

Way to go!

Be careful with the wife, though. Mine ended up going to so many train shows that she started collecting Flyer.

Welcome to a great hobby, Jim. My wife looks askance at the trains - someday I hope we can somehow share my interest in them. Now you need a layout to run your new acquisitions.

Welcome aboard! Whether your interest is toy trains or hi-railing, you’ll find lots of support for your addiction here. One serious word of caution – space and cost will be two issues that sooner or later you will confront. Keep everything in the proper perspective and you will derive a great deal of satisfaction and fun from this hobby. Keep your wife in the loop (pardon the pun) and things will be even better.

Just what is wrong with FLYER!!?? [:D]

You must get the Bachmann Hobo jungle kit to go with the rest of your hobo stuff[8D]

Mine keeps saying Garden RR.

Jim, welcome to the club!!
My wife doesn’t care about the trains, but I don’t care that she doesn’t care about them. We both have hobby’s and we don’t argue about the other being interested or not. We both need space of our own, and hobby’s are the best thing to achieve that. That way we enjoy eachother a lot more when we share time in something we both like. (Six years together, and no big fights…)

Thanks guys! Yeah, we’re going slow for now - figuring out stuff. But - she just bought a TON of halloween decorations/figures/buildings from Hallmark to go with my train, which UPS says will be here tomorrow! Sounds like a weekend project is to set up the Fortner Halloweentown!

Jim, Check out the K-Line site, today they just sent out an e-mail showing some halloween items that are being run on special. As soon as the other half gets home, bingo nite, I’m goig to show her to see if she wants to add to what we already have. [:o)]

Jim I am fairly new at this hobby to, and my wife is 1 i can’t take to the train store because she tends to make me spend more than i planned to horible i know. Iam also a hobo nut .

WELCOME to The CLUB JIM.
