Westen Maryland

Are their any Western Maryland modelers out there? I really cant find any modelers with an interest in this rairoad.

Yes…me

Mark

And me.

There are others that are on the forums that do WM.

Karl Bond is too. He’s around here somtimes.

I model the Chessie and predessors. The B&O and WM are my favorites. You can see much more WM stuff on our club website (see sig block below). A few members of the club model the WM specifically. Stop by and let us know what you think.

Check out the WM_Rwy Yahoo group. Filled with WM fans and modelers and it is a very active group. 10 or more posts a day at least.

And BTW: I am a Chessie WM modeler.

I am not a WM modeller, but WM trains do appear on my pike when I am in the ‘prototype’ mode (as opposed to ‘completely non-historic mode’). I have some WM equipment and have painted and lettered some as there is not a whole bunch WM equipment out there in N scale that is lettered in Fireball. There is some Speed and Circus, but the only N Fireball power that comes ot mind is the LL BL-2 and the B-mann 2-8-0. There are some custom Fireball cabooses out there. There is enough Fireball rolling stock out there.

Atlas has announced its Baldwin N scale switcher in WM Fireball, two numbers. The WM had five of these that eventually received speed lettering (they were scrapped before Circus).

The cabooses and freight cars were not really ‘Fireball’, they just had a round herald scheme that was contemporary with the fireball that appeared on the power. Speed lettering appeared in 1954. The first power that got it of which I am aware would have to be either the F-3s that were rebuilt to F-7s (but retained the high fan shrouds of the early phase F-3s) or the FA-2s . I would assume that as power got a major shopping after 1954, it would be repainted. This would mean that after the above, the Baldwins got it , followed by ALCos with Electro-Motives’ getting it last. The GP-9s and all power after them came in speed until the introduction of the Circus. The SD-40s were the first to receive the Circus, although I do not know if they came that way or were repainted. SInce I run steam, the circus is not within my time period.
