My HO Schnabel rig and giant transformer load need an extended-cupola caboose painted and marked for Westinghouse Electric. I’ve seen more than one in O scale (apparently MTH has made them), but I’ve never been able to find one in my scale.
Just getting a correct set of decals would do it for me, but the maker of my Schnabel model doesn’t want to sell extras. If the caboose doesn’t exist in HO, can anyone recommend a custom maker of decals who doesn’t have a big minimum?
I scratch built a Westinghouse schnabel car. I downloaded westinghouse and the W in a circle from google images. I cut them out and glued them on. You could find someone who makes decals on a priinter and have someone local print them on decal film.
Champ Decals had a set for a Westinghouse16 wheel black flat car both in HO and O. The HO set was numbered HC-292 and the O set was CN-292. I would assume that both of these sets had white lettering. Unfortunately the Champ catalog does not have any illustrations of what these sets looked like. Some dealers still have old stock and you might get lucky if you search hard enough.
There is a guy at the Timonium, Md, Great Scale Train show that has a lot of old Champ stuff. Of course he wants an arm and a leg for it because it is “rare”. I can look there if you’d like. Send me a PM if you want me to do so.
Walthers had a sheet of industrial logos that I’m pretty sure had the Westinghouse logo on it, but that was a long time ago. IIRC it was for the old Athearn Hustler (now Model Power?)
Found my old set of these. It Walthers Decal #1331, Industrial Names, Black. They were produced specifically for the old Athearn Hustler, but are generic enough for anything you want to put them on. Pairs of ten different company logos, along with pairs spelled out names for each.
I’m sure it’s long out of stock at Walthers, but maybe a vendor has some somewhere?
