I just spent the last hour test running trains. I duplicated everything I plan to run for visitors over the holidays. Not a single derailment.
Now, I ask you, what are the chances that I won’t have any derailments? [:-^]

I plan on doing the exact same thing after dinner. My Brother and his family are arriving this week from the UK and I want it to all run smoothly. Hopefully Murphy will not strike either of us!!
Good luck to the both of you. If it were me in your shoes, everything possible would go wrong if I am trying to ‘‘Show Off’’ If I am simply running the trains when no one is around everything will be great, but let some one elecs walk into the train room, Look Out.
Good luck any way Mike
Personally Speaking…I would have done the practice run - but not discussed it here on the forum.
Talk about double-dog daring the Train God’s.
Hopefully I am wrong - good luck
I am planning an open house Wednesday, and I suspect the MRR gremlins will be so busy ay my place they will not have time to stop at yours, so at least Wednesday I suspect will be ok.
Good luck to you Mike, we have commented on each others layouts enough so the gremlins will be mean to you out of spite for me.
What I am planning is a crash night Tuesday so I hope they will be a little bored by Wednesday.
In answer to the original question, NONE.
I had some guests over last week, and I ran the railroad incident free. Every day prior to that, and since, I have had hair-pulling times on my new layout.
Go figure.
The answer to your question can be found here!
Guys,With reliable track work, wheels in gauge and couplers at the correct height you should be able to run your trains for hours without derailments or uncouplings…Anything less then that should be unacceptable.
As Al Michaels would say, “Do you believe in miracles?”.
