What does this car haul?

Hi guys, I was given a box of track and rolling stock about 6 months ago and while digging through the box I found this old Mantua car.

I kept digging through the box to see if I could find a load for it but there wasn’t one. A Google search and HOseeker didn’t help, so I was wondering if anyone here knows what this car is for?

Thanks for any help!

It came with, as I recall, either three short lenths of culvert pipe, or three brightly-colored tractors (bullldozers without blades), depending on which set you bought. I don’t think it is prototypical; I believe it’s just a toy, maybe by Tyco.

Roseville,

I had 2 identical cars that came with my 1st Tyco train set in the early 70s-1 carried 3 small bulldozers, & the other carried 3 pieces of drain pipe, that if I recall correctly, were made to be pushed off the flat car at a station onto a loading ramp. (which also never worked right.)

That one carried the drain pipe or dozers. The flat for the tractor trailors had a wood (plastic) deck.

The others are absolutely correct. Culvert pipes. I have two of them myself that I cut down into regular flatcars.

I have that exact car. It came with an automated loader/unloader, and some cement pipes.

Foamer:

I got two of those cars for Christmas, years back. They each carried 3 very small dozers (without blades) painted respectively: green, red and yellow. I remember wondering just exactly what kind of dozers they were, because for the life of me I don’t think I’d ever seen the prototypes in action, LOL!

I think I still have them in my freight car collection somewhere in the garage. As I remember, I repainted and re-decalled the cars added Kadee wheels and Kadee couplers, but I think the dozers are still in their original unpainted state.

Thanks for the help guys! I never would have thought that the car was a Tyco but now I remember reading that Tyco and Mantua were connected. I’m 17 and have only been in the hobby about 2 years but I really enjoy running all the older stuff. I have 2 1960’s Athearn GP35’s that I run 5 times as much as my new stuff (Still have to track down a Athearn Pacific and Hustler). Most of the older stuff I have came out of that box I was given and I think that was one of the best things I’ve ever been given.

Thanks again!
