What Glue To Use

I would like to glue a surface mount LED to a light tube and i don’t know what type of glue to use.

Rip,

How much of a stem do you have coming off your light tube? Do you really need an SMD LED, or are you tight on room? If room is not an issue and your light tube has a stem, you may want to try using a regular LED and secure it around the stem of the light tube with heat shrink.

I usually shy away from gluing anything that has a potential of burning out or needing replacing. I, therefore, like to make any light changes as easy as possible and use either heat shrink or a homemade light tube that an LED can be press fit into or gently removed from.

The LED is snug inside the homemade light tube to hold it in place but can be gently extracted with a pair of pliers or tweezers.

The LION uses silicone caulk for all of these needs. Stick a dab of glue in the tube and push the LED in after it. I have used this using straws, of for just holding leds in place on a control panel. And the nice thing is you can pull it apart and do it over again later if you like.

I am going to install ditchlights on a SD80 an use the light tube to hold the led in place
