I just bought two MRC Cab Control 55 throttles (yes, I know, I am old school, maybe DCC someday when I can afford it). Here’s my question. What guage wire will work the best to go from the throttles to the power packs? Should I just go out and buy some telephone handset cord? Please let me know.
Thanks
Before switching to DCC I had two MRC-20s with walkaround throttles for my layout. I used 4 conductor modular phone cords and RJ11 phone jacks for throttle jacks. The MRC instructions suggested using the modular phone cords. The instructions also indicated that the throttle buss should not be more than 25 feet from the power pack due to possible signal loss between the throttle and powerpack.

I used some 4 wire thremostat wire I had laying around.

I used guage 14 once. If you use amller then watch out for over heating and fires.
As 14 can handle household amperage , it will handle a layout
