What if...

…I believe I knew that Dale but had forgotten that figure…It is an old building for sure…When it was a really nice restaurant several years ago in the {head house}, we were in it…It’s gone through some changes since then but still stands tall…Wish they would consider building a light rail system from there out to the airport on the southwest corner of Indy…That would put some action in it…I’d bet it would really be used too.

It does still see action from the Hooser state and the Cardinal. Just wish it was more. Downtown Indy is a pretty progressive place with lots of new stuff including the massive downtown central mall and now the construction of the brand new Colts statium to be finished about a year or so from now…New hotels…all kinds of stuff going on.

It could be more. It’s up to the taxpayers of Indiana. California, Washington and Illinois can do it.

That’s right - and it is an incredible building to this day. Amtrak only uses a small portion of the back of it, but the head house is beautiful.

“It could be more. It’s up to the taxpayers of Indiana. California, Washington and Illinois can do it.”

It won’t happen under the current governor, Dale. He’s very anti-Amtrak even though Amtrak provides many jobs in its Beech Grove facility outside Indy.

Tharmeni…Boy you have that right. “Our man Mitch” is trying to “privatize” everything in site to get it out of the government’s hands. So far he’s “leased” our toll road that crosses east to west in northern Indiana {for 75 years}, to a foreign consortium under great controversy and has under way more things here in the state to do the same…So any help one might expect from him regarding Amtrak…No way.

…somehow the federales managed to pass a mandate that cities limit their population to no more than 1,000 people per square mile?

Then we wouldn’t have all these jaded urbanites complaining about congestion and pollution, and subsequently forcing their views on the rest of us out here in fly-over country!

No more taking our gas taxes to pay for light rail boondoggles!

No more forcing more and more pollution controls on our already-too-expensive cars and trucks!

No more renewable mandates on our utilities!

No more global warming BS!

No more dead people voting!

No more surtaxes to pay for huge new stadiums for overpaid over-royded athletes!

Man, that’d be sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I was in the Union Station in Indy a year ago, and they have train cars on some tracks you can use as a hotel room. It was really interesting.

By the way modelcar, did you go to the Indiana Train Expo?

That’s not counting the biggest interurban terminal on the planet !!!
