What is California Zephyr Loco

My wife and I are planning on taking the California Zephyr from California to Omaha, NE in the last week of May to pick up my grandson, because my 8-year-old grandson loves trains. He asked for & received Microsoft’s Train Simulator for Christmas and has been asking what loco will be pulling us, so that he can learn how to run it before we get there.

Is anybody familiar with what Loco is pulling the California Zephyr?

The engine is the P42DC, called “Genesis”. There is one for MSTS, but you can’t control it unless you get the cab from http://www.train-sim.com/

I have a photo here:(in lead)IMG_0364.jpg Texas Eagle heading east at Big Sandy, TX picture by wyomingrailfan

The locomotives typically used on the California Zephyr are “Genesis” P42DC diesels, built by GE. Unfortunately MSTS does not have a drivable Genesis locomotive right out-of-the-box, however there is a computer-controled Genesis that you’ll see being run on the Northeast Corridor. You can visit www.train-sim.com and download a drivable version of the engine, or other more detailed Genesis diesels in updated Phase IV or V paint.

Thanks, I went to http://www.train-sim.com which lead me to http://www.mapleleaftracks.com/products.html and then to the http://www.valleypass.com/Sales/Sales.htm site.

I can see that this is going to take awhile. I had no idea how many train simulator add-ons there are. Thanks again[:)]

There is a train-simulator forum at the bottom of the forums page in the Trains.com one(the web one)

And so there is, I’m going to move to the forums page. When I 1st posted this, I didn’t know it would lead in that dirrection. Thanks
