Personally I believe it would be the original Thomas model made in 1942.
But there’s other trains out there that could be even more expensive
What do you guys think is the most expensive model train out of any model ever made?
Too many of them!
According to Ebay, it’s this one: Fulgurex Spur 1 E-Lok BLS 273 Ae8/8 Digital Sound Märklin KM1 Kiss New Condition | eBay.
That price tag is going to give me nightmares for years to come!
What is the price of that Thomas?
How are you defining “Model Train”
I have seen pics/videos of a Custom Hand Built 7.25-7.5” gauge live steam Union Pacific Big Boy, but I would consider that a Model Train, but I sure wouldn’t even have a clue on how to put a price on something like that, would the builder/owner even be willing to sell it?, if not is even possible to put a price on it?

Aside from items with bid-up collector value, I suspect it would be the Ed Woodings 1/12 scale live-steam T1, sold for $100,000.
A post from 9 years ago on Train orders showed that Tom Miller’s 7.5” gauge Live Steam Big Boy, then in Sherwood, OR was Listed for sale, at $245,000
A video on YouTube, showed that the locomotive and 17 scale freight cars were sold to someone in New Zealand, and regauged to 7.25”, which is the predominant gauge in that size in NZ
It didn’t specify the price for the locomotive or the cars

Probably some Lionels from the 1920s or 1930s. Thems is richman trains.
