What is the Pink/Blue foam for

a base and building terrain called ? I’ve looked at Home Depot and other building supply places but can only find styrafoam and celotex type stuff. Any help would be great.

I’m done with my benchwork and have Track Plan… I’m held up trying to find the foam.

I guess what I’m asking is… What is Brand name, or Trade name ???

I can’t remember the name now… I just threw out my last scrap pieces.

They have a black diamond printed on them I believe, and they are found down near the drywall section at the contractor’s entrance to the Home Depot. It is usually stacked flat near the plywood aisle and drywall mud, gyproc etc…

The blue stuff is made by Dow http://www.dow.com/styrofoam/index.htm you would not be the first from CA to have a problem finding it. The thicker sheets seem to only find their way into cold climates.

The pink extruded insulation is a product of Owens Corning. My local Lowes carries the blue Dow product. Styrofoam is the trade name of the Dow product. There have been posts in this forum from people living in California who have been able to find the extruded insulation sheets in their area. You might try doing a search under foam on the forum to see if you can get some of these posts. Also be aware that some of the thinner sheets of the foam, i.e., 1" or less have a thin plastic film on their surfaces to protect them from damage. Some posts on this forum have reported the need to remove this film before using the foam in order to get good adhesion of track, scenery, etc. to the surface of the foam.

And BTW, you need to use the pink foam on the female end of the layout. The blue goes on the male end…

(Sorry, couldn’t help myself.[:D])
