As the topic states what is your favorite locomotive? Mine is the GE 8-40cw.
P2K PA1. The one I have pulls like a runaway bull elephant on steriods.
The best looking locomotive in my opinion is the beautiful
SD70ACe
That is going to be the new regular look of the future engines as the SD70M, SD70Macs, SD80, and SD90Macs are the look today.
SD40-2.
SD70ACE.
SD70MAC.
SD75M.
SD90MAC.
AC4400CW.
An E unit in Q colors. Preferably pulling a host of stainless Budd passenger cars. In its hey day there was nothing finer.
My vote would go for the S.P. Cab Forward for the classic and have to take the SDACe (above) as the new kid on the block. Reminds me of the old style EMD’‘s with all the squar elines and gotta dig those big ole’ fins in the back
GP40-2 in Chessie or WM circus
Diesel:
SD80MAC and FP45
Steam:
UP Big Boy and C&O J3a Greenbriar
USRA period Mikado (2-8-2)! This particular one is on my favorites list even though it predates the USRA by a couple years (built in 1917) … [:D]
S4s, and more specifically, B&M S4s, and more specifically, B&M S4 1274.
SD 70 MAC
- SP AC-5,6,and 12 Cab-forwards
- DM&IR M3,4 2-8-8-4
- Santa Fe 2900 4-8-4
Norfolk and Western Class J 4-8-4. My first leap into HO scale trains all those years ago was a brass J.
Any american steam locomotive!
SD40-2
M420W
C-424
H16-44
CP Northern
CP Selkirk
CP Hudsons (Both royal and unstreamlined)
And most other EMDs and ALCo/MLWs get honorable mentions…
hmmm so meny trains so little time
Usually my latest new model…I’m fickle
Grrr…
Anything New Haven. (still)
I don’t know…there are so many.[:D]
Some of the top engines include:
SF Warbonnet F units
DL-109s
Civil War era 4-4-0s
Big Boys
and the U50B.

GE 44 Tonner. Grandfather’s lionel train set had one, the Arcade and Attica Railroad has two, I have 4. Gotta love the little guys! [:)]
