Sorry guys but I have save my spellcheck and the time that it takes for for more important stuff like letters to RTA or MBTA CEOs. I thought that this forum was bit more casual[8D]
It’s not just the spelling. As has been discussed here ad nauseum, those who present a well thought out and intelligent submission, but can’t spell worth beans, still garner the respect of the participants.
(The occasional ham-handing that we all do warrants no further discussion.)
It’s the poor composition, leading questions, inflammatory statements, and unwillingness to acknowledge others’ opinions added to the poor spelling that generally gets our gall.
Adding to tree68’s comments…we aren’t all engli***eachers on here, but I think the general sentiment on the forum is that usually we don’t care- to a point. Posts are easier to read when they are formatted properly. I’ll get off the box now, just saying. I think more people get disturbed with the ALL CAPS POSTS! Nothing is that important![}:)]
Tree68 and railman, I agree with you totally, I can’t spell it with two tees
Some peeple just caint spel:l worrth baens…
Alot of it has to do with the typing process more than with spelling. Type fast and post and your sure to mispell many words, often with a keyboard letter right next to the one misplaced. I do this all the time, I try to proof read but If I’m rushed I leave it to you to discipher. If I am typing while miffed, I type fast, and I dont care if I get sloppy…its power for the course.
For me, it’s often that I’m tired but a thought has managed to pop out of my wiery mind so I want to type it out. Other times it is the result of somewhat intense emotions from say passionate beliefs and so I get wrapped up in the moment, I forget the spelling of certain words and often forget to edit after.
P.S I just had to make some spelling corrections.
I like the speak and type but theres still some bugs in it?
Sometimes it is mice and not bugs…
I generally mention spelling if:
- It is so mangled the poster’s question is unclear.
- It changes the meaning of the word significantly (lose vs. loose).
- It changes the core subject being discussed (if you asked about how to the strap steps on the corners of a car saying “How do I seal steps?”, I will correct you to “sill steps”, because if you do further research on your own you’ll need the correct spelling to search.)

obsesion?
Their, they’re…lettuce not get into the portocol of speling chek.[swg][:-^]
If you find spelling errors in my posts, you’re welcome to call me on them. I want my messages to come across without distractions such as those.
It’s all right to misspell some words. But when there are a bunch of
misspelled words, it takes away from what the meaning is supposed
to be in a post. If a lot of words are misspelled, we are trying to figure
out what the poster is trying to say, and we get confused.
And like Carl, if anyone finds me spelling errors in my posts, please
feel free to point them out to me. After all, I’m only human and I make
mistakes also.
I cin’t spill wurt a dim!
