What Trains did You get for Christmas

I have sometimes seen threads dedicated to sharing Christmas train bounty, but one hasn’t come up this year, so I’ll start.

My son gave me a very nice (C7, maybe C7+) Lionel #520 searchlight car that works beautifully.

Well, as far as getting anything for Christmas the wife and I decided not to exchange gifts this year, we’d have a great meal and let it go at that.
BUT, in a way I DID have a “Christmas Miracle” find this year. On the way home from the Rappahannock Model Railroaders Club show I stopped in Tiny Tim’s Trains And Toys in Ashland to drop off some Christmas cookies for the crew and walked OUT with a used but “as new” conventional control Harry Potter train set! I’d been looking for an older conventional model and there it was! I’m not an HP fan but I like the train. The wife’s a Harry fan and SHE likes the train! So practically speaking we both got something this year! And it looked GOOD under the Christmas tree!

One for Flintlock76 and his wife.

Seen at Corrour Station, Scotland. The highest and most remote station in the U.K…
(I was on holiday staying at the old signal box)

For Christmas I received a rare brewery wagon

Remember, stick to your ticket, run straight at the wall to get onto the platform and don’t lose control of the trolley!

Thanks David! It’s amazing how close Lionel got to the real thing! Thanks for the photo!

Right-Oh!

My pleasure, Flintlock76. Corrour Station is on a private estate. The only way there is a 20 mile walk or by train. I took the train journey lol.

Whilst there I was lucky to see the Hogwarts Express. I am not a fan, but some of my family are.

Don’t lose control of the trolley? Well I didn’t lose control but I did get a “wild hair” with one.
I started with this:

And wound up with THIS:

Wow! I can put pictures in now! OOOOO, this opens up a whole new world!
I’d been wanting to do a North Jersey Rapid Transit (abandoned 1929) trolley/interurban for quite some time. I found the MTH red trolley at York in October for a VERY good price. For $75 I had my NJRT candidate!

You sure do!
Oh, and the wife told me in England “trolley” means “dolly” in American.
Good thing she speaks British!

Well since the trolley is just the tiny little wheel on the end of the pole I guess street car is more correct

And streetcars are trams in England. Oh the joys of the English language. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Well, as George Bernard Shaw once said:
“The British and the Americans are two peoples separated by a common language!”

Very wise taking the train! As we used to say in the Marines “Don’t walk if you can ride!”

I finally got around to taking a picture of my 'Arry train. I’ve got three coaches but I figure one’s good enough fo a roster shot.

You know, it really is a good looking engine! It gets better looking every time I look at it. And let me tell you, it can PULL. It pulled a 15 car freight train out in the Chugger Barn and didn’t break a sweat!

Going to start eating pumpkin pastries and drinking butter beer? :man_mage::magic_wand:

Pumpkin pastries sound interesting but I think I’ll pass on the butter beer!
