Well, “ingenious” comes to mind. That’s pretty slick. To answer your question, that definitely falls under the scratchbuilding category, and most definitely a freelance design. Battery power? I see wires and what looks like a battery container on the side.
Hi chompers
Looks like fun to me.
It’s an electric thing.
As aposed to the steam thing which runs on the Pig sty Hill Light Railway
and was built from Meccano and a german boiler whos brand escapes me at the moment.
I would sugest some more playing with design OOP’s! ehrm I mean expermenting it looks out of gauge the log hauling drum bit that is.
Be carefull Meccano type toys are just as adictive as model trains
And I think I saw a suitable plate for an early US RR signal in the picture too
but once used for that it would be perminantly a signal.

What do you have in mind as a body for your new thing-a-ma-jig? You could hide it under a variety of outline loco bodies, probably a diesel would have more room though.
Keep up the English, remember homework first (that’s what I tell my students anyway).
The regional chapter of the Mecano club is always running a G-gauge train or two at our annual RR show, so I know how much fun can be found in that side of the hobby. Nice job!
As for the term, how about “constructive freelancing” ?
Ok i went to Dans Crafts and things and they were having a Huge clearence sale on every thing LGB and Bachman G scale. I had my hands on a box, but IT COST $74.99 So i decided to buy 1 Lgb Car and 2 Bachman flat bed cars for basicly the same price. and my mom bought a pola covered bridge kit (It’s Huge) for $60.00.
In other words my Invention looks the same, and i now have 2 flat bed cars , 1 lgb ore car, and a covered bridge instead. oh poor ME![:(][:(][:D][:D][:D]
Hi chompers
Would look good with a vertical boiler made of plumbing pipe if you can get all the works exept the blue drum in the boiler.
set up the blue drum like some sort of logging thing that can load an then tow one or
two cars to the mill.

Hi bman36
Don’t rat too much Meccano for the garden railway usefull though it is.
Apparently as far as loose stuff goes the suppliers supply what they want
Which does not nescessaraly correspond with the replacement parts the end
user wants.
Thats what one of the retailers was complaining about in my neck of the woods
the other day.

Hey John,
As neat a set as it is, I really don’t think I will hang on to it much longer. Then again the kids can build with it too. It has a few pieces missing but is mostly intact. I would only use it to “create”, not for salvage. It sure is tempting with all the fascinating little gadgets in there. Later eh…Brian.
Hi bman36
It is worth keeping for the kids and the larger Kid one of the best toys invented.
Then if you see any Bits that are usefull for the garden railway and Mecanno made some pieces very usefull for the railway you can try and get them as seperate parts.
I am trying to get some of them[:D] so I can make some early period RR signals
and a friend is trying to find the somewhat harder to find train couplings for me.
