Ah yes,— EBAY. Seems strange- an ebay question today. Only last night, got in from two weeks on the road, checked my e-mail, yep, two identical messages from ebay that claimed my account was closed for some reason or other and wanted me to reregister or something. Funny, I never bought, sold or have an account with ebay. I deleted those, and other garbage that comes over the cyber waves. Seems there was some sort of “scare threat” in those messages also, but can’t remember what exactly. Ken
I have bought most of my 40 HO locomotive off of Ebay without any weird sellers or just weird stuff in general going on. Yes, I have lost stuff at the last minute also but that is part of the Ebay game. I have never had to sign in again unless I push something on the browser by mistake. I like all Ebay user get “Phishing” e-mails once a month or so. Don’t sceeming idiots have any thing better to do than to steal from good folks? guess not. I never reply but just delete the “D_ _ N” things, idiots. I find most of the prices on my locomotives have been much cheaper than I can pick them up at a hobby shop and that is why I have used Ebay. My closest half descent hobby shop is about a forty mile drive each way, not good. I most of the time just bid what I am willing to pay ahead of time otherwise I will end up bidding too much, not worh it sometimes.

Ebay gets my vote of confidence for selection and price,I’ve just completed my 97th transaction for the last 12 month period,Bought almost everything,DCC Lenz,5 DCC equipped locos,Just about everything for my pike,My LHS is a joke,HO orientated only,Lousy disposition and most times crude,I tried to give him some business but he dosen’t stock any N scale now and says N scalers are a strang bunch,Well i’ve spent alot of $$$ on Ebay and have had alot of satisfaction,Do your research and Give Ebay and Tony’s Trains in Vermont (Excellent)a call .

I have been to Ebay, but couldn’t be less interested in using them for my regular purchases. I want to see the stuff and get it there. If the LHS does die out in favor of nothing but on line and Ebay buying, then this hobby will be doomed for sure. I know I would be done. Ebay is good for something that can’t be found elsewhere, but I don’t see using it for just buying regular stuff. Its a shame that train shows are less than they were because people would rather sit on their computers and just order, but I understand this is happening everywhere.
If you get a strange email from “ebay” and you have any questions about it, forward that email to spoof@ebay.com (or if it’s from paypal, spoof@paypal.com). They’ll let you know if the email is legitimate or not.
The bottom line is, that if it is not on “My Messages” on ebay, it is very likely not legitimate.
Have fun!
Ebay is a funny world, get a good deal at a fair price, but their are the people who get caught up in the “got to win” game and pay way to much. I buy and sell stuff all the time. I had an old Athearn HiFi GP7 up forsale a few weeks back that brought almost $40. After the auction was over the buyer contacted me and said he got carried away and wanted me to drop the price. NO WAY PAL! Your dumb enough to keep going then your going to pay I told him. I seen allot of this at Christmas to, people paying big bucks for train items. Everyone is right though, it is a game. You got to draw a line in the sand when it comes to bidding though.
