Whats type of russian engine runs in Goldeneye?

Just watched this tonight and saw some sort of Russian diesel near the the end that looked a lot like our own American T1-duplex. Pretty nifty looking train.

Is that made off a real russian prototype or is it pure fiction for the movie?

Not sure if this question has been asked on here before, but I’ve always wondered, were there ever really any armored trains like that in Russia or anywhere else in Europe?

In reality the “Russian” locomotive was a flat-nosed, ex-British Rail Class 20 diesel-electric, which only vaguely resembles the locomotive seen in the movie, having had all sorts of “armor plating” (probably painted plywood, or fiberglass, overlay!) applied to it. [;)]

Be that as it may, armored trains were a reality in Europe between the Franco-Prussian War and World War I. They were made, as was the one for the movie, by cobbling stray bits of iron and steel plate onto an otherwise more or less standard steam locomotive. So their really is no prototype per se, although the effect was to make them look more like American Civil War-era ironclads rather than submarines or spaceships.
