Whats you favorite fallen flag

Milwaukee Road, no question about it.

I grew up in uptown Mpls along MILW’s west mainline to NoDak and west. The area in uptown was abandoned by CP late last year, I still have a hard time accepting that the tracks are gone and won’t come back. The city is planning on putting in light rail or a trolley to use the vacated rails. A friggin trolley?? WTF, I’m still bitter.

It’s a dam shame that SOO painted over all the MILW marks on the engines and cabs. Makes me wish I would have taken more pics. Bandits are still alive and well at Humboldt and St. Paul yards though.

[8D]S.P.I heard the big yellow sponge got its grimy mitts on my railroad, but I am still in denial over that merger![:0]

Santa Fe and the Pennsy, grew up with them in the fiftys

WP Lives

Erie-Lackawanna and Deleware & Hudson (yes I know not really a fallen flag, but they had a certain charm before GTI pillaged them.)

Conrail

NYC and Pennsy. Living in Delaware, lots of PRR history.

The TH&B, Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo. It used track in the Niagara region of southern Ontario. It was, I think part of CPR. I enjoyed the paint schemes of both the motive power and cars.

Richmond, Fredricksburg & Potomac R.R.
One of the busiest double track mains in the northeast. I can remember when the trains ran every 15 mins. and were running at spped with little or no delays

The New York Central System!
The Penn Central Railroad.

And another totally forgotten and Short Line Railroad: The Central Indiana Railway.

My favorite would be Southern Pacific all the way! Those SP cab forwards and GS series were by far my favorite, especially the GS4s…

Greetings,

I would have to say Great Northern. The Big Sky Blue paint scheme.

Mark in Texas

Grew up on Northern Pacific Lines, so they’re my faves
BNSF is the grandchild of this road, but they’re no railroad, anymore

C&NW. That is the line that went through my old home town.

Katy. I root for the underdog.

Only going back a few years, Conrail.

The Cotton Belt - SSW

Norfolk Southern … no not the giant system brought about by that merger but the original which ran from Norfolk, Va well southern into North Carolina.

Since it became a part of todays giant you could argue it is the surviving road.

Maryland and Pennsylvania RR.
