So I’m curious what all of you use to chase trains around with? Are there a lot of 4x4’s out there, or do most of you stick to on road transport? Here’s my baby girl ('94 Caprice Classic Police Cruiser) up near Roggen on a VERY old road (note the old white lane markings).
Millie! And she doesn’t chase, she rests right beside the busy tracks!
(2002 Buick Century - hence the “Millie” designation)

usually my work truck 03’ Chevy S-10
or one of my cars
69’ Ford F250
69’ Plymouth Sport Fury
My 2002 Saturn L200. It likes to go fast, which comes in handy for keeping up with all those fast UP trains. [;)]
Okay, so I’ve got a lead foot! Can’t help it, I inherited it from my mom’s side of the family. [:D]
I chase (or watch) from a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. 4x4, diesel, and I row my own gears.

I used to drive a '73 GM; 3000HP, 6-wheel drive, 0-60 in 30 sec (lite), automatic, about 200 gallons per hour when wide open.
Now I drive a bright red '03 Ford Ranger 4WD “off road”.
2002 GMC Sierra with red lights and a siren. (I don’t use the lights and siren when I’m chasing, though…)
I use a 1997 Saturn with Illinois license plate IHB 2920.
I like your cartoon Larry.[8D]
Depends on where I am going…off in the woods or out in the mud,its a 1995 Jeep Wrangler…
street or parking lot, I use my 2005 Dodge Magnum Station Wagon, with the 5.7 liter Hemi V8…

My black 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.
With the old Neon wonder car (I wondered if it would get me home) I mostly parked where the trains would come to me. Now I have a Chevy van I can trust more.
So if I want to chase a train when it leaves one of the yards in the area I can.
You need a good chase vehical in my area because train have four directions the can leave in.
I usually chase in the only car that I have. My “94” Jeep Wrangler. It has a 4 inch suspension lift, 3 inch body lift, 4wheel drive, K&N air filter, off road lights, fog lights, neon lights, 33inch Mud tires, a push bar, flowmaster exhaust…almost everything on my Jeep is aftermarket engine, interior, and exterior. My Jeep is also a witring nightmare from the lighting system, stereo system, and CB radio.
2002 Honda Shadow Spirit Motorcycle (except when it rains)
Ye Olde Survey Wagon.
either a 2001 pontiac montana(aka mattmobile) or a 98 chevy s-10 pickup.

Well, around the Dallas area, its all streets and no off roading, so for me its my 04 Pontiac GTO. 350 horses is plenty to keep up with the slow train movements around town. Traffic on the freeway is another hassle altogether…
I prefer something rented.
Doesn’t matter what, as long as & have their insurance on it I’ll be fine.
This way was I can go off roading & not worry about damaging my personal vehicle. [:D]

1985/96 Ford F150. (Engine & tranny from the '96, evrything else from the '85! Gotta love standard Ford parts… and a few non-standard ones!) Always dependable, except for once in a while…
