Wow! That is very strange. I wonder why they are so far from home?

I heard they are giving to NS temporarily and NS put put them on an empty coal that goes to the powder river basin BNSF took them off in Galesburg and sent them back to the NS on this train.

Odd that NS would “borrow” Power from the WLE when NS has About 100+ motors stored at the idled Buckeye yard in Columbus! It is good for the WLE though if they can make some extra cash while business is slow.

Yep exactly what I was thinking. I know NS has stored locos so I wouldnt think they would need to borrow some.

The W&LE evidently owed the Norfolk Southern for horsepower-hours, so the pair of locos was being used by the NS as repayment. The pair evidently came to the BNSF through Chicago early on Saturday morning by themselves. They ran out to Eola where the BNSF put an SD70MAC on the point for the trip to Galesburg. The power got removed from the train at the 'burg and was put on the GALCWY to get them back to the NS through the Streator connection.
