When & where exactly steam engines Twin Cities to Lacrosse & back

Anyone know when and where exactly the two steam engines will leave the Twin Cities for Lacrosse and come back this weekend 9-15 and 9-16? As in where will they park in Minneapolis or St.Paul area before leaving???

According to www.261.com, it’ a down-and-back trip today only, with lunch being served in La Crosse. Tomorrow the 2816 heads north to Canada. I believe they park them at the Shoreham shop.

Where is the Shoreham shop? Where do they load up the passengers? I looked up the 261 and UP sites. The same bleeping thing happened 1-2 years ago when they ran steam engines down along the Mississippi. They told us railfans nothing, absolutely nothing unless you wanted to buy a ticket. I don’t have the $$$ to buy a ticket. I remember the last time this happened I looked up sites, emailed and talked to ticket agents trying to find out where they would load up passengers so I can see a steam engine up close, smell the steam and coal (or oil) and enjoy this rare experience. But I find out nothing! I guess they don’t want too many people to pace the engines and create traffic problems. I gave that up 20 years ago. I’m really really really P’d off, again!!!

Boyd, Shoreham Shops are on the west side of Central Ave. in NE Minneapolis. North of Lowry Ave. and south of St. Anthony Pkwy. Better views can be had from the west side of University Ave. The train departed late this morning and arrived back late this evening. I caught it at Dayton’s Bluff after 7:30pm. Mike Mautner mentioned chasing the train today and said that it was a zoo along Hwy. 61 going south.
