When where these in use? http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/932-4472?

Anyone who knows? I’m looking for som Iron ore cars and these are very nice. Also, do anyone know how good they are as modells?

Thanks Lillen

Kinda of two answers. These are models of ore cars built around 1940’s era. These exact cars are DMIR cars from the 1990’s. Originally these cars only had the DMIR herald on them, the FRA required the Missabe to add reporting marks because these cars were being used in interchange service (on all-rail ore trains to Chicago etc.)

I think it’s safe to say that these cars have been in use from the 40’s to present day.

At the price they want for them, I don’t think I’ll be using them anytime soon![sigh][:-^]

The price isn’t too bad. It’s a 12 pack, so that works out to $4.75 per car.

Sounds like a very good deal to me…[:D]

I would have to say that the price is right! I mean that is cheap for RTR.

Galaxy-That’s for 12 cars, not one. That’s a GREAT price! What’s the deal with the couplers on those? looks like their set for close coupling.(dummy couplers?)

I think they are all hooked together and only the first and last car actually have “real” couples.

Lillen

The first and last cars have one actual coupler each. All the others are joined with dummy couplers.

If memory serves me correct, which it frequently does not as I mature, (read get older) the Missabbi has them connected in five car sets with couplers on the outside ends and the others being connected by drawbar.

Do anyone know how good they are as modells, I mean how they roll and so on?
