Where are the train shops??????

I will be in Tucson and Pheonix in mid April on business but naturally I would like to hit the train shops while I’m there. Can anyone help me out with the locations of the better shops there for HO products??

I know of only one left in Tucson – The Hobby Place, 6959 East 22nd Street, within Ace Hardware near the intersection of 22nd and Kolb Road. His selection of HO scale items has dropped significantly, however, because Horizon Hobby is now his sole distributor.

I was in Tucson and Phoenix a year ago (a year minus a week, exactly), and found there wasn’t really all that much, especially in Tucson. However, in Phoenix, there is a really pleasant railroad museum over in Scottsdale along with a hobby shop called Roy’s Train World. The hobby shop has another location in Mesa (both 'burbs of Phoenix).

At the Scottsdale Railroad Museum they also have some nice MRR clubs. The live railroad wasn’t much for me (was fun for my younger cousins though, but I guess you won’t be bringing children since you’re going for business.

If you are a DCC user, Litchfield Station is in the Phoenix area. Here’s their contact information. They are just finishing up moving so they only have a P.O. Box # listed for now. Bruce is a terrific guy to deal with. I’m not exactly sure what he actually has in his store.

Thanks for the info…I was in Tucson last year and did buy a fair bit from the Ace store but that was just after our fire and I had to start somewhere…but I’ve never been outside of the airport in Pheonis so I’ll look forward to visiting the shops and possibly the museum.

There is a hobby shop called Coronado Scale Models in Phoenix. It is a dedicated train shop that deals mostly with narrow gauge in HO, O, and Large Scale. They are extremely knowledgeable and a lot of their items can be used in any gauge.

An Affair With Trains- 2615 W. Bethany Home rd. Phoenix, AZ (that is just west of the I-17, Bethany Road exit). Great HO and N scale selection. Good folks, too. No vested interest, I just spend all my $$ there! Check them out.
