Where in Elkhart,Indiana is a good place to watch trains?

Might be heading there in the next week.How many trains rumble thru there during the day?

Elkhart is on the NS main line (old Conrail ex NYC) from NYC to Chicago. I have always found the parking lot at the Amtrak station to be a great and safe place to watch trains, of which there are very many daily.

Amtrak station and the NYC museum are good spots.

Probably 90 trains or more per day. Big Elkhart Yard is located there.
