Where to buy European trains in the US?

Hi everyone

I just arrived back from Italy for 3 1/2 months and am interested in collecting some passenger trains from Italy, TrenItalia. I have found numerous passenger cars and engines but only on stores based in Europe and ebay sellers in Europe as well.

So my question is does anyone know of online stores based in the US that carry these european trains, or if it is possible to find them at train shows?

There are very few people in the USA interested in European trains, and thus there are very few sellers. A couple advertise in MR from time to time, but by no means stock a comprehensively. Your best bet is to order from Europe - if you can find what you want.

My partners mother was from Germany and he spent alternating summers there growing up, where he rode the trains. He longs for them and He wishes to model them too. He has found it difficult to find stuff here in the states, but you might try these two links:

NEW Our Company - Euro Rail Hobbies and More

or

Welcome to Modellbahn Ott Hobbies, Inc.

One of those is in Canada on the west coast, and one is in PA

Hope this helps.

There is a guy who sells russian freight, tanker and some other cars but I only see him at the train show … I am thinking it is called red star railway… J

great place is www.eurolokshop.com . they have EVERYTHING!!!

I suggest http://www.tedstrains.com in Cincinnati, Ohio. Good luck!

thanks for all the suggestions…many sites have been helpful and have led me to a few others as well

Here is a good source for European trains:

http://www.reynaulds.com/

Here is the Red Star link (it is an American site):

http://www.redstarrailways.com/

It has a link to the Russian Railway Ring. The Ring has some very interesting sites, but can be fustrating (while some have English) if you don’t read Russian (I don’t) you often can’t tell what a link will bring up, and some of the sites are very slow. There are sites with lots of photos, sites with equipment plans, individual modelers’s site, historical sites, commercial railroad sites, and on-line hobby shops (which mainly sale western European products, the best sourse for models of Russian equipment is Red Star), etc. ---- Be careful on the Russian Ring: Most of the sites are clean but you should have good antivirus. Also somtimes you might get redirected to a porno site (this hasn’t happened very often)

One that I like is http://www.eisentrains.com/

in suburban Detroit. Interesting store with big layout. He has an interesting variety including Dutch outline trains that I had never seen before. I’m sure he can find anything you want.

And he has an interesting line of building kits from Holland Scale…haven’t seen these anywhere else.
