Read the artical but it did not say where to find it.If you know please tell.
Camper and RV dealers. Probably auto parts stores, too. And maybe even hardware stores.
Did a search for Camper Tape in this forum. Someone bought some a Lowes, others at auto parts stores. Do a search for more info. Hope this helped some.
Maybe even a Wal-mart in the automotive section, though the ones around here don’t all carry the same items. Harbor Freight if you have one in your area.
For all my tests, I used Gaska Tape’s V610BK, a polyvinyl chloride foam tape, low density, closed cell, with an acrylic adhesive on one side and a removable, heavy paper liner on the other side. Camper tape is available from sellers/installers of caps and shells for pickup trucks, and from automotive stores. My local suppliers have widths starting with 1”, with ½” increments. For HO, I use a 2” width, 3/16” thick. If you cannot locate a local source, contact Gaska Tape: www.gaska.com, 800-423-1571, 1810 W. Lusher, P.O. Box 1968, Elkhart, IN 46515. I tested 3M camper tape, which was not as effective as the Gaska product. I also found “Campermount Tape” from ACE Hardware, product #85017. It appears to be the Gaska product, but grey, and only available in 1-1/4” width. I also found Camper Seal Foam Tape (#02352) from M-D Building Products, Oklahoma City, OK 73118, www.mdteam.com. It appears to be similar to the Gaska tape (again, 1-1/4” width only), but I have not tested it.
Good luck! And have fun!
If you are referring to the Chuck Hitchcock article in August 2003 Model Railroader, where he talked about both latex adhesive caulk and tape to lay track, he called it “Topper Tape” and a Google search shows several sources. Topper tape is used to install truck caps, so I am assume it is the camper tape you refer to. Hitchock indicated he got his an auto supply stores which makes sense.

I found it at Home Depot, it is 1 1/4" wide which is working out great since it is a little wider than my 1/2 strips of roadbed so i can to curves without cutting in half like in the article.

You might try Amazon.
For instance API LDTT250F Topper Tape 3/16 Thick X 2-1/2 Wide X 30 ft long is $9.75 [link] this is for the light duty tape (see the API product page)
Is the Woodland Scenics roadbed pretty much the same thing?
