I am not much into fugures, but I do think a running HO steam loco’s realism is enhanced by a realistic cab crew. I can find everything from kids playing baseball to nude sun bathers, but all I really want is a varity of engineer’s and brakeman, and I am amazed that there are really so few available. I have searched all the obvious locations , Walthers, Woodland Scenics, and so on.
Preiser German soldiers can be modifed with a little filing on their caps to round them. Then Cut off portions of their arms and legs and reposition them before painting them.
You know, I’ve never noticed that you rarely see figures of engineers at the throttle. I think Model Power may make some, though. Now, they might not be the best looking, but the train is moving, so there isn’t a need for super detail.
Woodland Scenics makes a pack of railroad engineers. For the modern era, now that blue bib overalls and the classic engineer’s cap has gone out of style, just about any sort of miniature will do for an engineer. And yes, an engine does look better with an engineer inside!
[?]Where do you get the insides to a cab? I just bought a brand new UP IHC Hudson it has a good impression of the controls but no seats or anything. What can be done with the wires runing from the tender?[?]
