ps . if it is caulk gun which type?

A caulk gun makes things much easier. I would suggest getting one. Which one? that depends what type of glue you use. Whatever fits the tube should work.

Most people use a foam compatible construction adhesive such as Liquid Nails or Silicon Caulking shot from a caulking gun. You should be able to find it at any lumber yard or home improvement store. Read the directions on the tube carefully and insure that it is suitable for use on foam, because some types contain solvents that will dissolve foam.

oh ok thanks

Not Silicon Caulk. Get Latex caulk. Silicon smells bad and eats the foam. Cheapest clear Latex you can find, they are all the same. You can glue the track to the raod bed with it as well.

Cheap caulk guns really are cheap. A few bucks at most in the US. I use a product called Liquid Nails for Projects, but I don’t know if that’s available Down Under. I use the same stuff for foam roadbed to the foam base, and for track to roadbed.

Mine is glued together with a sort of industrial glue from a caulk gun.

Wood glue will do, such as Elmer’s, but it dries hard. Ohio Sealants makes PL300 and PL200 for sale in N. America, and it is a latex caulk that many of us use on our foam. It can be (should be) spread thin to go further, and it can be pried up with some effort if you change your mind at any time. You will have something similar at your builders supply store.

Use latex caulk. It doesn’t smell too bad, and most importantly, cleans up MUCH more easily than liquid nails or silicone caulk. It holds good, and will last until you pull it up.

ordinary white glue for wood and paper is what I use .

I use yellow carpenters glue.

I use screws to hold the first peice of foam to my bench work then hot glue or PL300 after that on any further layers of foam. I’m cheap at times and the screws will let me remove ant scenery that I don’t like or if I get a new idea without wasting the foam.
My first peice of foam is usually 2" and I stop the screws just as they heads touch the top of the foam. It works for me.

Liquid nails for mine. Comes in caulk like tubes and squeeze tubes. I use it for my roadbed and track too. (not switches though. It is very permanant.)

Same here. I think it’s going to be the only glue I use on the layout (except for kit building). Works for everything: Foam stuff, cork, etc, etc.
