I bought some E7 L&N Williams recently. Which passenger cars should I be looking for (Williams) luxury liners, madisons, and what length? The Williams E7,s are about 17" long. Would consider lionel or mth, but again which one?You guys are always so helpful… Thanks…Tim
I would think streamlined not heavyweight, and as long as you can get to run on your layout.
I would think that the 15" aluminum streamliners would be most apropriate, although the heavyweights probably wouldn’t be inapropriate…
By the way, K-line makes some of the best passenger cars in the business for a very good price at that. Just be sure you perform the “Jim Barrett Fix” of soldering a wire across the pickup rollers.
The E-7’s were delivered when there were still many more heavyweight cars operating than streamliners. Most railroads would put their newest diesels on their best trains, which in most cases were streamliners, but the E-7’s pulled many fast mail trains, heavyweight milk runs, and associated locals as the streamliners. L&N had an abundance of heavyweight cars when the E-7’s arrived so the choice would be up to your preference.
