Who are these NS guys in the white jeeps following around NS yard workers?NS management style?

Is it just me but every time I visit a NS yard there are ALLWAYs Clean white jeeps or SUVs following around and watching NS conducters and car knockers working. The guys driving domt have a spec of dirt (Unlike conrail and csx trucks which were allways and naturaly have some dirt on them) on there trucks or themselves…

Does NS have a entire layer of middle management that surpivises every move that the NS working class grunts do? I mean NS is a southern railroad so does that mean they like to run there railroad like some kind of plantation?.. I am mad cause I ran into one of these guys when I crossed the tracks to get to my house…Young bucks who seem green and had not much of common sence

These guys are sub contractors working for Gunderson, and have been hired to fit the shackles into the box cars…

Ok here… The guys in the white jeeps are different from CSX and Conrail in that…

Many are young and look like they have never even so much as pulled a switch lever

CSX does not follow there switchmen around and preety much leaves there workers to do what years of experance has told them to do to get the job done…

These guys watch but almost never get out of the car for anything…

NS employees are often look more stessed and scared for there jobs
