I would love to see your photos. I grew up in Reno and just love SP.
I model SP. Right now I am running on a freelanced club layout, so it’s more like just running “a train”, but do have plans for a home layout, that will serve the ex-Western Pacific line North, including the intermodal yard at Parr. Of course, the plan includes a scaled down version of the Sparks yard, as well as rail traffic modeled through Donner pass. I had lived in Reno for 20 years, before I had moved to Montana 3 years ago.
Here are a couple of shots for you.

I model the Southern Pacific. I have no pictures on the internet though.
I am putting the finishing touches on the new layout room. Soon I can put the existing (unfinished) layout into it, with expanded areas. No pix yet, but I have been buying up the SP equipment. Dan
I am making the transition from HO to N, but I was able to snap this today as I’m in the process of fully dismantling my old HO layout (there were previously tracks in the foreground and a passenger station and some mountains in the background). Practically all my HO motive power was in Scarlet and Grey. I model the modern era and like the challeng of updating things, so most of my N scale motive power will be Armour Yellow…But I’ll make sure to have a decent amount of SP equipment!
here you go…
These are all great!!! The person that lived in Reno…what years? Did you know they have the Reno part of the tracks lowered under the streets? I guess they had too many pedestrian mishaps in the Casino area. Also, my roadbed looks almost identical in color…I did a mix of brown and black, or rust and black. I will send pics when I get a bit farther along. You guys all rock!!!
And here is another of us, we won’t give up the SP without a fight modelers. My web site is mostly center on buildings and my private short line, But my photo bucket has more of the SP pcitures . On shelves in my train room are 60-70 SP models I’ve painted over the years. Most all mine are painted by me, some notable exceptions are the BLI AC6000 and the ge 70 tonner from Bachman which had a pretty good paint job from the factory.
I’m also modeling SP but in N scale. Actually I’m modeling ogden utah which allows me to model SP, UP and D&RGW. Currently have track down on only 12 feet of the project which is 6 feet of sperry flour and 6 feet (half of the planned total) of the PFE ice docks. I’ll shoot a few shots when I get more than just track on the layout.

I’m not really modeling SP anymore but I do have some engines that I’m keeping around. Here are some pictures of what I got from about a few years ago on a club layout in Livingston, Montana.
And though I’m not modeling SP anymore, I still bought this SD45T-2

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Joe Fugate spots this topic when he gets off work this evening…
Don’t model the SP anymore (origonal plan was UP, SP and ATSF in the 50s, but now I’m modern day CSX) but I still have my P2K SP SD7. Unfortunantly, it took a dive off the shelf and hasn’t been the same since . Recently picked up a Bachmann SP GS4 #4449 though. Nice model, wouldn’t mind adding DCC and sound to it…
Gee you mean Joe models the SP ? [(-D] [(-D] [(-D]
I model SP From Weed CA. to Grass Lake in 1910. Unfortunately I am totally computer illiterate as I cannot post pictures of my work although I have read every how to thread on this topic for the last two years. Some pictures are available if you Google " Whisper River" for anyone who may be interested. Peter Smith, Memphis
I lived in Reno from 81-2004. My Dad sent me pics of the train trench when it was completed. Pretty cool, I’d rather miss the opportunity to see a UP train pass through…
Hey Zak, nice shots! I visitied the Livingston layout last year. Pretty impressive.
