I am currently using a Tech II model 1500 and and believe there must be some upgrades even with plain DC in the last 30 years. This would be for N scale and the hope is for improved slow speed performance over my current old-tech without putting a strain on the wee little motors used in N. (The old style pulse used to be a strain in long term use)
Looking at the spec sheet, there seems to be a major functional difference between the 700 and the 760. Does anyone know what the difference is in wave output? The momentum feature means nothing to me, but if there is a performance difference the extra cost is worthwhile.
Only difference is the momentum and braking. Both have the same power output and everything else - notice on the top of the page they say ALL Tech 7’s have Accutech, but don’t mention it in the blurb for the 700 and do for the 760.
What is Accutech? Only MRC knows. They have this need to make up names for standard technologies so they sound better. Need to put a scope onthe output and see just what theya re doing - something new, or just a new name for the same old stuff.
MRC lists a track voltage of 0-14.5 VDC for the 700, 0-23 VDC for the 760. That indicates a difference in structure between the two. And that is half my question on them. (The other being how well they work in actual use vs. the Old Tech II).
I would go with the 700. The 760 is too much voltage for ho / n scale. I have no idea about the pulse scheduling . If it is too aggressive, the motor will buzz
What you got was once top of the line. That being said I have not seen the need to upgrade to anything beyond the Tech 2 line, they offer fancy words but I don’t see any performance improvements.
