Im looking for some O gauge kits to add some diversity to my circa 1941-48 Lionel layout. Has a true vintage hi-rail feel, and i dont know what to search the ebay for. Oh and i cant afford the lionel kits…
I remember Lobaugh and Varney. There were others but I don’t remember them.I think most of the kits then were for two rail but trucks could be had for three rail.Check in the two rail sections of the forums. They may have more info.
I did build a box car from a kit around 1950.It did not have trucks in the kit.I bought Lionel trucks from a local dealer.I’m sure my kit building left a lot out but I BUILT IT so to me it was just fine.
Scalecraft, Lobaugh, Varney, All Nation, General Models, Kaiser, Pearce, Thomas, Alexander, Boxcar Ken, Walthers. Of the group, Scalecraft, Lobaugh, All Nation, and Walthers are probably the most readily available and their kits tended to reflect the times of the 30’s to the 50’s.
Don’t forget Athearn.
