Who Made This Car?

Yesterday, at the Atlanta train show, I picked up a set of passenger cars for my Georgia Central Scenic Railway.

I think I’m going to have to pull them out of service for a while until I can buy/build some hand rails for them. You know how tourist are.

Do you know the make of these cars, is it IHC or who? Any suggestions on how to build handrails in case I can’t find them?

They look like the old Roundhouse/MDC 34’ overton cars. The Athern or Horizon Hobby sites may have the parts listed. If not, some brass wire & a lot of patience will be required![:D]

Yep, Roundhouse is the only company that comes to mind. (MDC). Now owned by Athearn/Horizon.

Ok, thanks for the information!

If you don’t have the wire end rails and brake wheel/ shaft, they are easily formed out of brass. You may consider fabricating them anyway. The origional MDC ones are rather plain.

Thanks Bob, I believe I will try it. I got this photo from the Roundhouse site…

and it sure looks like mine…

Mine measures 35.5 scale feet with my HO ruler so I guess that is close enough for Roundhouse to call it a 34 foot. I want to add the green tinted windows at the top and window glazeing on the bottom ones also.

i have the same one i picked my one at the hobby shop it was a round house

It’s cute! I would also reccomend making them out of wire.
