I sent some e-mails to members on this forum and for a simple reason. One person was looking for a discontiued product, so i let him know i had one, because i did not want to clog up this forum with idle chat.
One person was looking for help that happen to live near me so i sent an E-mail to say i may be able to help out , again not to clog up the forum with idle chat. This is a forum of “Comradeship” in which we “ALL” share the same interests of Model Railroading. If your not interested in sharing the Model Railroading aspects, then you don’t need to be here. So don’t let the door hit you on the Mike Wolf on the way out.
Huh? Pretty harsh, I think, the idea that a member should give us their email address or get off the board. I’m happy to respect their privacy.
Well, this debate is over for me. It’s been fun but fun can turn ugly very quickly. Hope no one feels like leaving because of what’s been said here.

Hint…just look at the thread a few down on Spyware and the trainorders website. The web is becoming more and more dangerous place in so many ways with spyware, keystroke monitoring stuff, spam etc. Then you never know who all the yahooos are on any given website, I have gottne pestering emails from others on other message boards and grouos in the past.
Email is OPTIONAL…so is PROFILES>>>>OPTIONAL… pe the other busy body thread that ran in January. I opt to limit my exposure, I don’t go to loads of websites and links, don’t use paypal, don’t identify myself in any way anywhere on the web etc etc. You can call it paranoi or what ever suits you I call it common sense and controling ones own destiny. Some fool could make the sam idiodic statement that If I don’t leave my wife’s jewelry out on the street corner, my door unlocked and my car running out in the driveway I must be some grump who does not trust his neighbors. Pretty foolish point. Fill your profile and put up YOUR email all you want, I’ll use the option Not to. If I want to communicate, that is what the forum is for in the first place. Forums I have ever used or considered using that require real info, and an eamil addy outside the yahoo or hotmail or other type emails I never register for, they can function witht he members they have. If they need my real ID info and a business or home eamil Addy than they can live on without me.
My ebay account is fictious as far as name and addy, when I buy or sell I give the real scoop to the buyer or seller. Believe it or not I had one guys actually ship an item to my fake addresss even though it is painfully abvious. A second seller admitted he was dumb enough to try and ship there, I caught him before he did. He was stupid enough to admit there was nothing obvious about the name and addy being false and got indignant about the entire ordeal.

You seem to be a tad paranoid about use of the internet. Maybe your right! However, I just wouldn’t be happy being that afraid of doing anything in my life and if you truly feel the way you state, it is logical for you to drop out of sight/site, as far as the internet is concerned!

My e-mail icon is active for this group (for a couple of years now) and I have never received and unsolicted mail.
I don’t think this is anything to worry about. Someone mentioned using work mail, try a yahoo account, it’s simple. Also, your ISP provides you with your own e-mail address.
