Ya’ think??? [banghead]
For me some of the post have the right side cut off, some more than others, it goes from three letters cut off to the point you can’t see the relpy button and the postdoesn’t make sense because you are missing so much.
I just found a new problem, some of the text that I am typing is under the format bar/box, so I accident hit the quote button twice since I could see that I had inserted the first quote. Then as I wastyping, it fixed itself, at which point I realized I had inserted the quote twice and deleted one.
I guess it cut off access to the Customer Service button, too. Whatever…[zzz]

Most of the time, these roll-outs happen and issues are definitely traceable to issues on the user end. I’ve never had a single issue through any round of updates on any of the now five machines that I’ve browsed this site on."
I’m sorry but the IT Types and programmers need to take into account that not everybody has the latest and greatest. At work I have XP and IE 7 or 8, and a lot of that is based on accessing bank software that will not take upgraded operating systems or browsers, then I have the problem where I now cannot access some states tax reporting websites.
On this post it would not let me add the Quote to the post and I am using Windows 7 and the latest Firefox so go figure!
That makes me think it is the software and not the user!

That’s where beta testing would have helped out matters but…that’s water under the bridge at this point.

They say that - but many of our clients are banks and they are scrambling liek crazy to get off of Windows XP, with no more security updates it will be an audit fail to be running an unsecured operating system. SO far, every single one, their core applications have worked with Win 7 for quite some time now. All of the major core applications, and all the extra stuff like various fed sites and loan systems, work with Win 7 and at least IE9 if not 10.
Anyway, it’s Friday, enough work talk… the whole point you often have to put the latest IE in compatibility mode is because the site does something to support the older browsers - the cry has always been the MS is totally non-standard, well, the more they ditch the proprietary stuff and stick with HTML standards, the more sites break, becuase they all used that extra stuff for a better experience.
As for cuttong off the sides - clear your browser cache! You probably have a stale CSS file, because I just tried making my browser window narrower and wider, and the text reflows to fit the space. I have a widescreen display (2 of them actually) but any given window is no more than half or 3/4 of the width, what’s the point of having all this screen real estate if every window just overlaps them same as on s small screen? Clearing the cache often fixes many web site issues. And clearing other temp files and stuff using disk cleanup helps many other issues. Note that the disk cleanup utility does NOT clear the windows temp files or your user temp files. Which has always bugged me. Those you cna clean manually. On most versions of windows, the Windows temp files are in c:\windows\temp. Select them all and delete. If any prompt that they cannot be deleted, click skip, those are ones that are currently in use. I have NEVER had this cause a problem - because if a file is in use, it won’t let you delete it. Likewise, user temp files can be accessed by clicking start, run and typing in %tmp%. Select and delete all those, too. If any give an e
It works just fine with Google Chrome under Win7 and Win 8. It also works just fine with Firefox at least that is what I have found.
Dennis
Working fine with XP and Firefox 25.
Randy,
I would like to buy You a couple of [B] [B] [Y] for your well put explanation and some will find,if they do a clean out of unused or old files, the PC will run faster. Now if anyone heed’s the suggestions, well that’s another story.

Interestingly, while the new software does not seem to like my combination of Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8, it does work reasonably well with Chrome and Internet Explorer 8.
For reasons unrelated to this forum, I installed Chrome a few weeks back as an alternate browser to Windows XP. I am typing in this message using Chrome and IE8.
Since the only response that we have received from Kalmbach is the message stating that the software is an off the shelf product, we really don’t know how the new software was designed to be implemented and what the default options would presume relative to operating systems and browsers. It could well be that the software is not backward compatible and does not support operating systems prior to Windows 7. Or, Kalmbach failed to enable options beyond the default options.
Someone asked why the MR forum was the guinea pig for this new software while the other forums retain the older software which seemed to work quite well at the time that it was eliminated. Good question. No answer.

Well, as for me I just hate this new format, so instead of complaining about what I can’t do on here anymore I am going to log off and stay logged off, because I am just bored with this forum. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mean any of you guys, just the forum itself.
logging off

As I mentioned before, Rich, I have both XP (SP 3) and Windows 8.1 at home with Firefox 25.0.1 and I’ve had ZERO problems with the forum, other than loss of certain functions that we had prior to the upgrade. Page formatting has been fine.
I would guess it’s because we have the largest traffic of all the forums and Kalmbach could discover bugs more quickly if we were the guinea pigs. Course, other than the one post from Neil Besougloff, we’ve heard diddily-squat from Kalmbach on whether the IT department is working on (or can work on) any of the bugs we posted about. [:(]

Yea, Adobe got an earful from me recently with their latest Flash Player upgrade. While there was a tick box to unclick if you didn’t want a certain McAfee product installed, Google Chrome and Google Toolbar were “automatically” installed with the upgrade [|(] so I had to go into Control Panel to uninstall them. Adobe makes it pretty difficult to send them feedback on their website so I used their bug report to tell them what I thought about their latest approach to push Google Chrome and Toolbar.

Why is it that Kalmback’s program is so incompatable with IE? Kalmback’s IT department is aware that more users use IE than any other program and should work with all programs.
I was having trouble like others with the new update and then my troubles were compounded when the gremlins installed IE 11 on my computer without my knowing it. After that I couldn’t log into the forum, peiod. So I started using Firefox. After readng on the forum about cmpatabilty issues I checked my computer and listed the forum address as acceptable and was them able to log on the forum. This didn’t correct my other problems, however.
But why was this forum the only address of all the ones I use NOT COMPATABLE. This says a lot about the program
Kalmback needs to make changes with it’s IT staff.
Bob
Oh, c´mon folks - let´s be fair and square! The new forum software may have some glitches and also may take a little time for us to get used to the changes again, but I am sure the Kalmbach IT staff is doing their best to make as comfortable as possible for us.
Afterall, it´s free for us to use!
Ulrich, that argument has run out of steam.
No one from Kalmbach has responded one way or another. I’m betting that’s because Kalmbach wants to hear from us so that it becomes more apparent to them what the problems are.
Imagine if we never said nothing, not a word. Kalmbach wouldn’t have a clue what is wrong with the new software and whether anything is wrong with the new software.
So we are being fair and square, and when you think about it for the moment, that is just what Kalmbach wants.
I doubt that anyone on the Kalmbach staff is the least bit troubled by this thread. Heck, it is helpful to them.
Rich
Rich - I am with you regarding notifying the Kalmbach folks of problems in using this forum. My comment referred to Bob stating "Kalmback needs to make changes with it’s IT staff. " That´s a little heavy …
