Why is it CN and CP in the US and not GTW and Soo Line?

For CN,

DWP (DWC)

IC

CCP

SSAM

WC

BLE

DMIR

EJE

GTW

All still exist on paper.

On our paperwork, cars destined for interchange to CP points (Soo or DME stations) as being delivered to CPRS. I do believe the Iowa DOT maps used to list their trackage as CPRS, but now use CP with DME in parantheses.

It doesn’t sound that different from remarks found in old issues of the Official Guide which would indicate that a separate coupon was not needed for each road when traveling over MP-T&P or other similar combinations.
