Will it ever stop raining?

If you have been on the east coast, you have been getting hit by tons of rain. We have had over 6 inches in a week. Well i have had some wetness in the basment where the trains are. . Now the trains are a good 4 feet off the floor, and I have a dehumidifier running full time, plus i have just installed airconditioning in the trainroom. I have a large fan blowing on high on the damp patch, and some lysol should clean up any mold. I just wi***he rain would give us a break. LOL
So is there anything else i should be doing to keep my area dry? any suggestions would be helpfull.

HI Billl,

I kow what you mean. NE Ohio has had 70 days of rain in the past 90 days. Some area have had 4” in one storm and yes they had floods.

Sounds like you got it covered with the A/C and dehumidifier. The only other thing would be waterproofing your basement.

6" of rain fall is about half what we get in a year. When Los Angeles get’s over a half inch in a day the local news stations refer to it as “STORM WATCH”.

rrcrossing, I’m a little farther south than you so we get a little less rain but it is hilarious when the local news starts with the “Sorm Watch” coverage.
Did you get any of the EARTHQUAKE [(-D] coverage like we had here? If any visitors saw the coverage they would probably be calling home and telling everyone that San Diego was devastated. Only casualty was a termite infested telephone pole and it wasn’t even knocked down.[(-D]

Rain? What is that? I think I heard one time it’s like water that falls from clouds or some such thing?

Hmmmnn, not much help here.[;)] I cut out the section of rug, roughly 2 feet x2 feet and as of this morning the area is dry and fine. A half an inch gets a storm watch??? Hah, over an inch in 18 minutes a week ago, that kicked off a nightly deluge of thundershowers that were just out of this world. Lightning, thunder, raining its butt off. No wonder the cat spent most of the time between my wife and i crashed out.
Now i just have to go cut my grass. [:(]

The only joy I’ve found in all this rain is knowing that the water seepage problem in my train room is finally cured after 2 1/2 years. Bill, I feel for you. If you have concrete block walls that are seeping, waterproofing paint might not be enough. You might need to parge on a coat of hydraulic cement. It helped in my case, but it turned out the root cause of the problem was a cracked drain pipe, the one that was supposed to be carrying all the roof runoff to the street. This I found out only after digging up the side yard for the 3rd time, and wearing out 2 sump pumps.

I wish it would rain more in Manassas.

BTW, we do weather updates in Coffees Always Hot post.

Sun? What is that? I think I heard one time it’s like light that comes from sky or some such thing?

From Oregon - Where everything is green, rolling stones gather moss, and the rainfall is always above average.

Another day in northwestern Illinois - and another rainstorm - it’s dang cool for the end of June - a huge thunderstorm whipped through the area yesterday and cooled everything considerably - probably part of the same front that spawned those unfortunate twisters up north in Wisconsin. As I drove home from the train station I could see bands of rain to my left and right and bright sunshine right in front of me. My lawn, bushes and trees haven’t been this green this long into the summer for years - and the skeeters are just in clouds…

Haven’t seen rain here in Fremont since April.
