Does anybody know any of the departure times for the BNSF Z-trains out of Chicago? Whenever I stay along the transcon in IL the westbound trailer trains always come through at about the same time and I want to know where these trains are headed. The only train I know for sure is the Willow Spring to Los Angeles train that I always catch around 7pm in Toluca IL which would mean it leaves around 5-6pm. When does the North Bay train usually depart? and the Alliance, San Bernadino, Pheonix, Richmond, Stockton? and the 2nd and 3rd sections of these trains? Also, on what days of the week do they not run?
I have checked this site out and it doesn’t really make any sense to me. It doesn’t load up trailer times and changing the service level doesn’t work. Why isn’t Willow Springs on there? I don’t think that it is giving me the Z-train schedules. Is there something I’m missing here?
OK never mind that last post, Chicago is considered Willow Springs, Corwith, and Cicero. But those schedules are only for premium business, not expedited. Why can’t I access the expedited schedules?!!
Many of the Willow Springs trains are UPS trains and aren’t publically published. Also remember when reading intermodal schedules you’re looking at Gate cutoff–the time to beat or your box misses the train-- and available at destintion–the time the container is off the train & ready for the dray carrier to pick it up. Not the arrival and departure times of the train.
Thank you very much for replying MarknLisa. I kinda figured that just because I couldn’t find the schedules anywhere on-line. I guess all I can do is guess, which is sort of fun, in a different kind of way.
There isn’t any way to pick up the BNSF train symbols over the radio is there? If not, how do some people know some symbols?
