Wiring Your Model Railroad
Very comprehensive and in depth. Well done
This book covers all of the aspects of wiring for your model railroad. There are a few surprises in regards to turnout controls! The book is well written and EASY to understand.
I’m just starting out in model railroading and this book is very helpful in showing me the wiring aspect for a smooth operation great book and easy to follow. Would surely recommend
excellent basic primer to get you started on the right track
Great book covers the basics and more advanced work, including DCC systems.
Great Book, big help in wiring a new layout
This is an excellent book that covers the electrical aspects of a model railroad. Virtually every page has full-color photographs and illustrations to accompany the text to help the reader understand how and what to do. In the back of the book is a list of manufacturers that provide the modeler with the company names and addresses who make the materials mentioned in the text.
great source of information for the novice HO modeler
This book is clear, readable and understandable. It has the best explanation of wiring live frog for DCC I have found anywhere - I understand what to do and why. The soldering chapter is good too. Thanks.
Great info.Too bad that greed prevails in shipping. I’ll find this excellent book elsewhere for less and no or less shipping fees.
Most interesting book. Has the basic information to get started and keeping a layout running.
I purchased this book on trust that Trains and Kalmbach would not publish anything that was not of the highest quality, and my trust was rewarded!
Excellent chapters on DCC (Chapters 3 and 6) and soldering (Chapter 11). Just enough information on DCC with out overloading the reader with the minor details of DCC. I really liked in the soldering chapter with the recommendations on the soldering irons explaining wattage’s of the irons along with best use. It also included recommended tools to keep your iron in top shape. Thought the Chapter (13) on track cleaning and Maintenance a good addition and with our club having recently made the transition to DCC it gave us the ideas for our own track cleaning cars. The chapter on reversing loops/wyes was a help. Explaining the use DPDT switches and the wiring of them, along with creating blocks very informative in a DC layout. Finally the Appendix B with a list of manufactures was comprehensive enough to get you started on finding the things you need for your own layout by giving addresses and websites for easy contact/research.
I find the book very informative. Mr. Puckett has been active a at least one Model Railroad group I follow. He has lent his knowledge to help many.
It is nice to have a book to reference that sound advice. When ever possible I like to enhance my on line references with real print. I can hold in my hands and flip through.
In part my reason for choosing the book was the author . The great photography helps those of us that need the visual reference to say “Ah I get it now”
I will also comment on shipping only because my book arrived with the seal of the envelope stuck to the book itself not the envolope. Could be sloppy packing or it could have happened in transit.
This is only the second time I have had a problem with an order from Kalmbach in 20 years being a subscriber. We all have a bad day once in a while. Accept for a sticky spot I cannot seem to get rid of, the book was in good condition otherwise.
