There is a reason that the governor of Wisconsin is referred to as governor wanker.
These types of actions by the governor are the reason that he will be recalled.
I use to work for the railroad and have seen the way people ride the train for short distances. They don’t. They quit riding #'s 11 & 22 out of Madison to Chicago and there wasn’t enough revenue to keep the trains on.
There was a test train from Watertown to Milwaukee and the only people riding it were rail buffs and they stopped after a while. What makes anyone think that a train from Madison to Milwaukee would be any different?
Chicago to Milwaukee is from one large city to another with large industry in each, nuff said.
I understand Gov Walkers position. I live in NJ and the 2 greatest Governors in recent memory are Christie of NJ and Walker of WI. These guys put fiscal responsibility before politics. For those who have the courage to seek the truth they will find these guys are doing it right! Most democrats will just spend without regard for cost effectiveness. These states and many more have such bad debt that it cant be sustained. So go ahead and recall Walker and things will go back to status qo!
More money for roads is not the long term answer. Need to improve rail transporation in the US. High speed rail is a long term benefit to all. If people take the bus to a location - then believe that they will take the train. Don’t understand why Wisconsin would rather spend money on highways - why not spend money to improve rail transportation?
It’s simple, if the revenue coming in does not cover the bills being paid, don’t do it. It is called fiscal responsibility. I’m passionate about High Speed Rail, and a Republican from Illinois. If the ticket box does not cover the Illinois HSR, I will no longer support it. It is not the responsibility of the Government to move people, period. That is what private industry is for. If there is money to be made, someone will build it. For instance, I am working to restore SSR (Slow Speed Rail) passenger service from Chicago to Miami using the Southwest Airlines business model. if there is not money to be made, I will cease my effort as no private entrepreneur would fund it. So far, the model looks promising but it is unlike the railroads have ever experienced or taken part of. There will be no U.S. Government funding, however states and municipalities will be encouraged to build infrastructure and particiapte in routing decisions. Looking at a railroad map, only one carrier has contiguous trackage from Chicago to Jacksonville, FL. Environmental impact, cost analyses and rote selection all need to be done. as well as equipment selection based on how the model finally pans out.
