Wolfgang Dudler has passed on

Wolfgang revealed over on trainboard very late last year or in January that he had a very serious illness. I PM’d him immediately and wished him well…I admired the man, and wanted him to understand it. He replied that he felt it was his last bit on the forums and that he would be slipping away soon enough…no bones about it. He had been in a coma since Aug 02, 2012, and died yesterday.

May he rest in peace. He was a heckuva good modeller and forum buddy.

Crandell

My deepest sympathy to his family. He will be truly missed.

Thank you for letting us know about Wolfgang’s passing. The modeling community has suffered yet another great loss.

Personally I was in awe of his ability to put sound and reliable function into his GE 25 ton (I think I have the size right) locomotives, as well of course as his many other modeling skills.

I think I will get myself one of the 25 ton locos and a sound decoder to fit and build it in his honour.

Crandell … It is good of you to inform us. We will certainly will miss Worfgang and his outstanding model railroad which he shared with us. Sincere condolences to his family.

My heart is heavy. Wolfgang and I exchanged emails a couple of times and I found him to be a warm, friendly, and giving person. The model railroad community and this forum has experienced a true loss with his passing. [:(]

This is truly sad news. Wolfgang was one of the best.

My deepest sympathy to those left behind.

Wolfgang was one of the great ones. This is a loss. My condolences to all who knew him and valued him as a friend or family member.

Odd, I just started on a Grandt 25-tonner kit this weekend…

Crandell, this is sad news!

Wolfgang was an outstanding model railroader, always there to give a helping hand. He was the motor of the German US prototype model railroading community, his web site a fountain of information and advice.

My condolences go out to his family!

He will be missed.

Oh no! What sad news.

My deepest sympathy for the family of this extremely nice man and fabulous model railroader.

Highball, Wolfgang. You have the main.

I learned so much from him and his great web page. I met him ones in Sinsheim and had the opportunity to switch on his layout. He was a very kind and friendly man. I will miss him.

Sad news indeed.

My condolences to his family…

I am so sorry to hear this. I never had the pleasure of knowing him personally, but I’ve admired his artistic skills for a long time, he was truly a master of the craft.

My deepest condolences go to his family and friends.

It is so sad to hear of the passing of this true master of model railroading. I never knew the man personally, but could tell that he was dedicated to the things he loved. The Westport Terminal and the Pueblo & Salt Lake railroads will live on in my mind because of Wolfgang’s skill at what he did. Wolfgang has now passed over and will join other model railroad masters and icons. I can only imagine the layouts they will create together.

My condolences to Wolfgang’s family and friends.

Rest in peace my friend.

I’m stunned and shocked like everyone else.

Seems like he was a friend although we never met. My sympathies to all, especially the Dudler family.

Wolfgang’s modelling inspired many including me. I’ll miss his amazing videos.

This is so sad.

I appreciated his advice on these forums for a long time…

What sad news to wake up to.

I would like to send condolences as well to all of Wolfgang’s Family and friends.

He seemed always to be so comfortable in his role in life and with the things he imagineered he did with such finese. He truly taught me that less can be more, a lesson I shall not forget.

Double green to you Wolfgang, thanks for the memory,
