WPF Sept. 21 - 24.

Those guy’s from down under must be asleep at the switch. I always rely on them getting us off to an early start. I’ll start off with this oldie. I wouldn’t mind seeing a few from way back if you don’t have any new ones.

Thanks for starting the thread. Here is a photo of some of my latest home painted locomotives. Penn Central SD40 #6282 leads PC GP40 # 3175 with the orange “C” and two PC GP35s. All are Athearn Blue Box and were decaled with Microscale decals.

Great start to WPF!

I finished decorating the MRGS Rio Grande vestibule coaches I had unfinished pics of in last week’s WPF. They look good with my other passenger cars. I’ll be adding seats inside and diaphragms later.

I started building a PSC WP&Y DL-535E kit a couple of days ago. This is my first brass kit, so it’ll need some cleaning up, but so far, so good. I have another one of these to build and it’ll be the pretty one.[}]

It runs really well on DC, especially after a colleague suggested turning the motor on its side for more clearance inside the shell and to improve the driveline angles. I’m hoping to add Tsunami sound, although they don’t have the exact decoder I need.

John, I grew up able to see an NYC-then-PC line from our living room window. Those locos evoke a lot of memories. Well done.

I have an oldie, Brent.

Loco service. DJ.

Brent: I like the hillside scenery… Mike: I like the narrow guage… John: Nice Penn Central units.

DJ … Glad to see you posting here again. You must have been busy lately.

Here are F units moving through Valley Heights

Excellent work everyone!!!
Well, with Fall in the Air…
Here is an HO IC&E Grain Train, since it is fall, the trains will be working!

I took a brake from all the Free-moN stuff to finally finish Randgust’s 18-ton Climax kit I started over a year and a half ago :o

Also took the Mt. Coffin & Columbia River layout outside to shoot in the sun (after vacuuming off all the cobwebs & dust):

Also a video:

More picts in the Layout Threads.
Thanks for looking, and looking forward to seeing everyone’s fab work this weekend!

Ok,

Here’s a “steel” oldie [;)]

A pair of duos get ready to hit the mainline, while WM units are still being serviced!

Garry,

Thanks for the comment. I can feel the speed in that photo of your CB&Q Fs.

Here’s a couple more pics of my DL-535. I got the shell together this evening. As you can see by the Pyle light in the nose, it’s going to be a Rio Grande DL-535.[;)]

Mike,
Way cool Man!!!
Those are going Awesome!!!

Chad,

Thanks! I’m learning a lot more about soldering, that’s for sure. It’s still kind of messy looking, but I finished the major part of the construction last night.

One of my junkbox rebuilds, a patched GP9F (F = Frankenstein) made up of parts from Walthers, Front Range, Proto, Athearn, PPW.

A short run-by.

Made some progress this week, I put in two ground throws. Required some modifications, but it turned out good! The throws weren’t even made for these switches. [(-D]

Two down, four to go!

Continued work this week on my ExactRail Evans 4780 Kits!

Installed the bulkheads that I assembled last week and the gussets between the bays.

Drilled holes in the ABD valve for air lines, and glued to bolster along with the sill steps.

Thanks for looking!

Well… I would have started it, but I couldn’t get on the forums all weekend!! Great stuff all.

James,

Had the same problem, couldn’t connect at all to MR site. Would try, then it would just go back to my main page. Other sites were no problem. Don’t know!

Have fun,

Richard

Yep, the site was down for “Maintenance”…

I have been trying to finish up several on going projects on the layout. Been filling the gaps on some PC ties, painting rail, adding Railbars, etc. Here is a small section of the yard as it looked right after putting the rail down and soldering to the PC ties (and notice in this spot I have already added the railbars). You can see the gaps cut for electrical isolation in them:

I filled the gaps with Milliput from Micro-Mark:

Then the ties have been painted with the first coat of paint, Roof Brown. They will be painted with a dry brush using some Grimy Black to make them blend in with the hand cut and stained ones surrounding them:

Also got more ballasting done on the Upper staging:

Lot’s of hours, but lots of progress this weekend on building my WP&Y DL-535E. I managed to get it all together, except for a tiny lost part or two that will never be missed…[:(][8-|]

And the handrails. They’ll go on after the cleanup and detail work, because they’d just be in the way and get bent

She looks rough, but the next step is the big cleanup. She’s sticky with flux. Once that’s cleaned up, then I’ll go over it in detail with my files and other instruments, install the handrails. Next step, the paint booth. Maybe she’ll reappear in next weekend’s WFP with her proper clothing on?
